Would "Culpepper County Virginia Marriages 1781-1825, Marriages of Orange County Virginia 1747-1810 and "The Vestry Book and Register of St. Peter's Parish(1684-1786) be secondary sources if they were compiled and transcribed and published? Ex: Page 20 "Culpepper County Virginia Marriages 1781-1825 published by Researchers of Indianapolis Wilhoite, Reynolds Lucy Towles 1815 Would copies of the real deeds be primary sources and accepted by genealogist and organizations?

There is a Pamunkey River that joins up with the Mattaponi River in southern Maryland. There is also a Panunkey Basin. Altho no part of southern Maryland is connected to Virginia. Up in the Northern neck you can cross from Maryland to Virginia or vice versa.
Marianne, I wonder if the "Pamusky" river you have listed might be a misspelling of the "Pamunky" river? If it is, then you may find info in Caroline and/or Hanover Counties. The Pamunkey headwaters begin and flow through those counties on its trip to become the York River. >This is what I posted today to other mailing lists. I am not related to this family but have a FTM record on John Marshall Holladay, Sr.? John Marshall Holladay Sr born 1676 England married about 1700 died November 4, 1742 in Spots. Co., Virginia. Will dated November 4, probate Dec. 7, 1742. His father was Thomas Holladay and mother Elizabeth Seville. John Marshall Holladay, Sr married Elizabeth Brochs. She was born about 1678? in King Williams Co., VA John Marshall Holladay Sr and Elizabeth Brochs had 9 children: Children born in King Williams Co, VA 1. Susannah Holladay born 1728? died 10/12/1795 in Caroline Co., VA This FTM goes back as far as John Halyday born abt. 1400 in Hampton Manor, Somersetshire, England. ================================================================================ I also found another document stating in John Marshall Holladay Sr.'s will his plantation on East N.E. Creek in the S.W. part of Spots. Co, VA on which he lieved, died and was buried as that on which his great grandson Lewis Holladay lived died and was buried as was his great grandson Lewis Holladay lived died and was buried? and so was Waller his great grandson was born and reared. The site of the dwelling and the graves of John and his wife Elizabeth is several hundred yards from the residence of Lewis H. and of his great grandson Dr. Lewis L.H. before he removed to Orange Co. Thanks but mine are in Virginia. The problem is where that 1711 deed is on John Marshall Holladay. :) I have two lines in MD but just about all of my Mother's lines were from the British Isles to Virginia. Thanks Roy, I think it might be Pamunkey too. I didn't know where it was located back at that time. I haven't studied the land in those early counties. Thanks again Joan. I also have this too. Quite a few years ago I saw a book on the Holladays of my line going all the way back to England to Walter the Minstrel. But the generations seem to be in question. It was a large family book written on the Holaday's. It may have been written by Alvis Milton Hollladay but there are inconsistencies with other researchers who have followed his work. I guess the 1724 deed would be in Spotsylvania but it is a question on the land description on the 1711 deed which one of the three counties it might be in, King William, Essex or King & Queen. I haven't studied those counties yet. Thanks for helping me out. I appreciate it. :) Marianne Dillow --- On Sat, 1/10/09, cpzb4@aol.com <cpzb4@aol.com> wrote: From: cpzb4@aol.com <cpzb4@aol.com> Subject: Re: [VACULPEP] Holladay To: mdillow31@verizon.net, vaculpep@rootsweb.com Date: Saturday, January 10, 2009, 8:17 PM This is the other document that I found.
