We have a brick wall on an ancestor that is supposed to have been born in Culpeper, Culpeper Co., VA, September 6, 1859: William Edward BRADY. By the age of 20, he was living in Austin, Travis Co., TX, in the home of Rev. Elijah HANSBROUGH and Unity HARRIS Hansbrough (Church of Christ), along with his future wife, Sarah Eldora "Dora" COCHRAN. Dora was a foster child of the Hansbroughs, having been orphaned at the age of 8. We have two sister's names for William: Laura BRADY (m. Turbeville) and Alice Ann Amanda BRADY (m. Newberry). William's father is supposed to have been born in 1830, but that's all our family legend has. The Hansbroughs were originally from Louisa Co., VA, so there may have been some family and/or church tie-in that led William to their home by 1880. Thank you for your time and any assistance you may offer!! Lisa L. Moore/Smith on behalf of Margie Maxine (Cochran BRADY) KEMPE Smith Sarasota, FL 1SmartCookie@comcast.net

I was in Virginia and no one seemed to know what I was talking about- not having the material at hand, I am not sure what it was in reference to, but I think a mining company of some sort and shares in the company. possibly a gold mining venture and the date would have been late 1790's, early 1800's. I think Richards Ferry Road went across the river to Faquier County, not Spts. Co., built by William Richards 1780-to 1800-- because he had saw mills in Culpeper and needed it. I hope it doesn't become too much of a chore. James Lightfoot married Mildred (Milly) Dulaney / Delaney in Pendleton Co, Kentucky in 1810. James' older brother Robert married Joanna Dulaney in Culpeper Co in 1794 ( I don't know the relationship between Joanna and Mildred). James traveled to Kentucky with his family (father John Barrow Lightfoot) from Culpeper Co in 1794. I believe Mildred comes from the Culpeper Dulaneys, but which one? The 1810 census lists the following Dulaneys in Culpeper Co: Joseph Leroye French John James Abijah Zach. (Zachary or Zachariah?) Eliab Any tidbits you might be able to find would be greatly appreciated.

His name was John Lawton Candelet. Per his obituary, his father came to Culpeper and saw him buried "temporarily" at the "Soldier Cemetery of Culpeper". His remains were supposed to be shipped home to Philadelphia after the war. However, soon after his death the family was split up, children went to orphan's homes and there is no record of him being moved to a local cemetery. I think he is still somewhere in Culpeper. What is the likely referenced cemetery? Are there records of burials? Are there records of movement of remains after initial burials?
