    1. [VACulpeper] Re: History of Virginia
    2. Lesley Carter
    3. I would recommend "Colonial Virginia: A History," by Warren Billings et al., as a starting place for that period of Virginia history. I'm nearing the end and have enjoyed it thoroughly. It also includes a lengthy bibliography for those who might want to dig into the topic a little more deeply. Additionally, the William & Mary Quarterly might have some articles of interest on early Virginia history. HTH, Lesley __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! 1. [VACulpeper] History book of the people of Virginia
    2. fern
    3. I wonder if any one on the list can give me the name of a good book listing historic families of Virginia. I could use a book of the history of Virginia as well. I have a lot of family that started out in Virginia in the early 1600's; some of them went on to Kentucky and the Carolina's. Any suggestion would help a lot, I'm just getting started and Virginia is the best place I can think of. My Surnames are: BUFORD, McDOWELL, EARLY, KIRTLEY and REID to name but a few. Thanks much, Fern
