I am looking for any help regarding Walker VAUGHN. He was the first husband to g-gm, Roena Butler. Walker was born 1815 in VA (along with both parents--1880 census) Family stories speak of his large land holdings. At the time of 1880 census, he was listed as Salem, Culpeper Co, VA He died Sept. 10, 1885. Not much to go on, but all I have so far. Any info will be greatly appreciated! Marcia

THOMAS VAUGHN/BAUGHN has been discussed on the GANT-L/GAUNT-L because of the connection with ELIZABETH GAUNT. Here's the information that I located in my files, perhaps you could check the archives of GANT-L data. (Quoting Text) ...... Caroline County Court 14th of August 1788 (p. 437 Caroline County Order Book, 1787-1789 by Sparacio, 1999)- AMBROSE GAUNT, REUBEN GAUNT, SALLY GAUNT now SALLY SCANDLAND and JOHN WEBSTER, Surviving Obligers of WILLIAM GAUNT and JOHN WEBSTER, Complainants against RICHARD DIXON Executor of JOHN GAUNT, deceased, Defendant In Chancery The Commissioners appointed to settle as well the administration of JOSEPH and SARAH GAUNT, deceased, by JOHN GAUNT, deceased, as the distributive share of the Complainants of each Estate, having made their Report, it is therefore decreed and ordered that the Complainant, JOHN WEBSTER, do pay to the Defendant, RICHARD DIXON, the sum of thirty three pounds, two shillings and eight pence one fifth of a penny, the balance due from WILLIAM GAUNT, deceased, that SALLY SCANDLAND, formerly SALLY GAUNT, do pay to the Defendant the sum of seven pounds, seven shillings and seven pence and one fifth of a penny, and that AMBROSE GAUNT also pay the Defendant the sum of one pound, nineteen shillings with Interest after the rate of five percentum per annum on the several sums of money from the first day of January one thousand seven hundred and eighty five til paid; And Complainant, REUBEN GAUNT, the sum of eight pounds and eleven pence, to the Children of THOMAS GAUNT, deceased, the sum of eight pounds and eleven pence and to JOSEPH GAUNT, the like sum; to ADAM BEAZLEY in right of his Wife, LUCY, late LUCY GAUNT, the sum of six pounds, nineteen shillings and eleven pence to THOMAS BAUGHAN in right of his Wife ELIZABETH, late ELIZABETH GAUNT, the sum of eight pounds and eleven pence. that the Complainants pay the costs of the suit at Law and that the Defendant pay to the Complainants their costs in this suit... Subj: RE: Elizabeth Gaunt/Thomas Vaughn, Caroline>Culpeper Co., VA Date: 3/6/2002 2:44:47 PM Pacific Standard Time To: GANT-L@rootsweb.com There were many Vaughans and Gaunts in Caroline Co., VA in the mid and late 1700s but parts of both families seemed to have later moved to Culpeper County. There were many marriages between the 2 families in Caroline and Fauquier. Elizabeth Gaunt who married Thomas Vaughn was a daughter of one of the several Gaunt families of Caroline but I can't identify her parents and neither can I identify the Vaughan family that Thomas was a member of. Neither can I identify William Vaughan and the children of his and Guinetta. I do find James Gaunt and Joseph Gaunt and Richard and Rachael Vaughan in the Caroline records mentioned above but can's identify the parents of any of the 4 of them. I believe a perusal of copies of the complete records of Caroline County abstracted by the Sparacios and others might tie all these Vaughans and Gaunts together. Sorry I can't be of any help but thanks for the information. As you know, these Caroline Gaunts are not my line as I believe their immigrant ancestor was the Joseph Gant who was in the records of Essex and K & Q countioes in 1705 and 1714 (Nugent). Who was the son of Thomas Edwards and Isabel Downing who were married in Wales. Also Jacob was the brother of Robert Edwards who bought a track of land in New York and leased it out for 99 yrs. I think the story of The Edwards Estate is interesting, but, I only want to link my Family together nomatter how poor or rich the were supposto be. It appears from the records that Thomas Nicholson did NOT have a son or brother named William Nicholson. Some of the surnames that have been connected to Thomas & Mary Nicholson are SARGENT, CORBIN, and many other surnames. I have documentation that this family were residents of England. I believe that William Nicholson who imported into Orange, Virginia could be our connection.
