UP DATE from Msg 1 A review of Germanna Record #3-John HOFFMAN revealed a number of previously unidentified marriages. The new entries all reflect the John1 clan. This should be the same info as is in Germanna Record #5. This is a compiled list of old and added data. What is interesting is that this list does not address all children of the various HUFFMAN clans and their numerous families. "Culpeper County, Virginia Marriages, 1780-1853," by John Vogt & T. Surnames: Weaver, Clore, Tuckwiller Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QBC.2ACI/2269.1.1 Message Board Post: I have checked the Germanna Records and other sources. There are reports that Charles Weaver, born ca. 1795, was probably the son of Daniel Weaver and Barbara Clore, but proof is lacking. I would appreciate any proof or comments that anyone may have. I am also trying to prove that Charles Weaver who married Mary Tuckwiller, daughter of Thomas Tuckwiller, on Feb.18, 1817, in Shenandoah (now Page) County, Va., was the same Charles Weaver. He owned property on Dry Run in and near the Blue Ridge in present-day Page County, where he died in 1858. Also during the 1820s and early 1830s, he owned a small tract of land on the north side of Hughes river in Madison County, Va. This small tract appears to have been the site of either a grist mill or a saw mill.

As responses come into me, there are conflicting accounts. The two below are the first. Can anyone offer evidence as to the correct cite. _______ Case 1 Samuel & Eve HUFMAN, 11 Mar 1792, m WC; (John2, John1) Samuel married to Eve HUFFMAN, March 11, 1792 (Tillman2, Henry1) Issue: Which Samuel is correct? ________ Case 2 John and Elizabeth HUFFMAN 8 January 1794 m. As those of you who follow HUFFMAN matters know there are two families of HUFFMAN not known to be related in colonial Culpeper Co., VA. The progenitors are: in 1714 John HUFFMAN (aka John Henry HOFMANN) and 1734 Henry HUFFMAN (aka Hans Henrick HOFMANN) Both HUFFMANs had large families, but there does not seem to be much intermarriage. This may be because John's clan seemed to be Lutheran, while Henry's clan were inclined toward the Baptist faith. Later the 1714 clan were in Madison Co. while the 1734 clan remained in Culpeper Co. (Little Fork area) Several correspondents have sent Culpeper marriage lists from compilations of other researchers. I have integrated the lists and attempted to identify each HUFFMAN (male or female) with their HUFFMAN ancestors. There are a number of the HUFFMANs that I cannot identify (?) in this manner and I am hopeful that you will scan the list for HUFFMAN names with whom you are knowledgeable. Please add any info and advise me. I will collate and publish a new list based on input.
