My great grandfather was Dabney Gaines who married Ann Eliza Yates. I have searched the Gaines family back to Brecon, Wales. The family has been searched back to before the 1300ies. The only "weak" link is the immigrant to the USA. That immigrant is thought to be Thomas son of Thomas brother of Sir John Games(Gaines) of Newton House, Brecon, Wales. Thomas was from Aberbran near Brecon, Wales. I have been to Brecon three times and visited two churches where family is buried and also visited three family homes from the 1500ies. 1. [VACULPEP] relationship between Strother, Smith and Slaughter/Hord
    2. Winifred K Miller
    3. There is a Fanny Strother age 65 born in VA listed in Louisville, KY Census of 1860. My great grandmother Frances Ellen Slaughter Smith is listed a few lines later age 56 born in VA. >From the papers I received on the Hord Family, Fanny was one of the people listed as giving depositions for cases for and against in a long Hord battle with the Simon Miller Family. A William Slaughter is mentioned. William Slaughter signed James Hord's will. I know Gabriel Slaughter married Frances Sophia Hord c 1798 in Caroline County VA. Not the Gov. Gabriel Slaughter. The children I have for a William Slaughter and Katherine Zimmerman are: Gabriel, Thomas, William, John and Smith. Trying to figure out how Fanny Strother and my Frances Ellen Slaughter are related. Living with Fanny Strother are Robert C 42, Jacob Owen 40, Eliza 35, James 16, George L 13 and a John age 14? No male around her age living there. I know there was a school named Strother Elementary in Louisville years ago. My Frances Ellen Slaughter, born in Culpepper, married in Indiana Claudsley W Smith.(1826) Some of her brothers must have come from VA to Indiana. John and a Lawrence were in KY later. Any suggestions?
