    1. Passenger list book
    2. Cecily Ledbetter
    3. I recently went to my first genealogy conference. I bought a book from the gobs of booksellers there. It is titled Irish Passenger Lists 1847-1871 by Brian Mitchell. It lists passengers on ships leaving Derry, Ireland to New York or Philadelphia via two ship lines, the J. and J. Cooke line and the McCorkell line. I found several McCausland passengers in the book. If you think you might have an ancestor who could have been on one of these lists, feel free to email me with your ancestor's name and I will look it up for you. Thanks, Cecily Ledbetter __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

    1. Desperate request for McCausland info
    2. Cecily Ledbetter
    3. I am leaving the Texas panhandle in two days to drive to Virginia to research my gggrandfather's parents, who are presently unknown to me. I have sent unanswered emails requesting any information that someone might have on the names of the father and mother of William H. McCausland and his brother John B. These men were reportedly born in Augusta County, VA in the vicinity of Staunton/Mt. Sidney in 1841 and 1842 respectively. They moved as single young men around the time of the Civil War to Missouri where they lived in the vicinities of Roanoke, Fayette, Higbee. They married Missouri girls - William and Ann Mary Alverson; John and Sallie Snell. They died in 1894 and 1927 respectively. They were reportedly orphaned before the age of 10. I've seen a guess that John and Nancy (Whitmore) McCausland were their parents but on John B.'s death certificate, his father is listed as William and unknown mother. If anyone can supply clues to the real names of my gggrandfather an! d his brother John's parents before I leave, I would be so grateful. Thank you. 1. Free Lookups
    2. Lisa Adams
    3. A friend on the DC List sent this and it's a great tool, even if it is only available for free research until December 15th. HeritageQuest Online and ProQuest Historical New York Times - http://riversideregionallibrary.org/ Click on the link, enter "welcome" as the password, and start searching. This is good for only a few weeks, but it's for real. Do your lookups while you can. On the homepage it gives the password as WELCOME, but as in the message "welcome" works not the caps version. It'll probably be gone quicker than Dec 15, once this finishes making the list rounds:-) __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Protect your identity with Yahoo! 2. Hi George, I don't have the Kirks, but those Cottrells are related to me too! I didn't have Susannah yet and I have her parents as Reuben Cottrell and just Sarah not last name and have 3 children for them. Reuben and Joseph Sheppard are both in my tree, their parents being Peter Cottrell and Susannah Sheppard as I am sure you already know. Peter was a son of the second marriage of my ancestor Richard Cottrell, Peter's mother being Mary Alley. Richard's first wife, Judith Smith was my line via their son Charles Waddell Cottrell. I see you have McCune in your family too. My 3rd great-grandmother, Eliza Walthal who first married John Poland and had 2 children later married Robert McCune and they had 2 sons. Their son Charles Meigs McCune moved to Kentucky from Va. 3. Hi Beth: I am very interested in exchanging data with you. If you are also interested, please tell me what file formats you can handle. I have on occasion successfully created GEDCOM files. Interesting footnote; The Kirks & Cottrells are my mother's tree branch and the Henrys, Richards, & McCunes are my father's tree branch. If I keep going back I may wind up being "My Own Grandpa." Please advise. 1. Population size 1740 - 1800
    2. George Henry
    3. Does anyone on the list have approximate population sizes of Augusta Co, Staunton, and the Scotch-Irish Settlements in/around Augusta Co. during the late 1700s. I find references to the same names in multiple places but often do not find data to link them to each other or to an individual. Given the estimated population of the entire east coast during this period, I guess that the area population couldn't have been very large. G GHenry01@earthlink.net GeorgHnry@netscape.net
