Well, folks... My mother-in-law says that there were two Carper lines that were separate. They just didn't cross. While I don't buy that ultimately -- too coincidental -- I do think it is possible they don't join at Craig County. Still ... Here is a family of Carpers I got from microfilm of the 1880 Craig County Census... CARPER, Oscar WM36 Farmer Manda WF32 Wife Keeping House James WM12 Son Laborer Ballard WM10 Son Amma(?) WF7 Daughter Ettie B WF5 Daughter Amanda WF2 Daughter The above are listed just above the household of Samuel Leffel and Liza Ann and Fannie, their daughter. Now, how do I put this... Is there any connection between this line, and, say, Allen M. Carper, or Howard Burns Carper, or Charles Edward Carper, or any of that family line?
