    3. Hi Jack, I was responding to the List about Ross Cemetery, that I had a little info on John A. Reynolds. There is some confusion on his middle name although it does start with an "A". He was born 20 Mar 1831 at Sinking Greek, Craig County. His parents were James Reynolds and Catherine "Katie" Caldwell. His grandparents were John Reynolds and Susannah Taylor. On 24 Oct 1855 in Craig County John A. married Lucinda Ann Snodgrass, born 04 Dec 1834 (stone says 1836). Her parents were Caleb Snodgrass and Mary C. Huffman. They had 9 children: Oscar Reynolds- never married George Alexander Reynolds - m Christine Huffman John A. Reynolds Jr - m Mary Susan Clanahan Fannie M Reynolds - m Daniel Jonathon McGlothlin Mary Jane "Mollie" Reynolds - m Shade Ferrel Amanda Catherine Reynolds - m Dahl Green Surface Lucy Ann Reynolds - never married Winona Elizabeth "Betty" Reynolds - m George Franklin Keen Charles Milton Reynolds - m Clara T. Keen John A. Reynolds died 13 Sep 1885 and was buring in the Ross Cemetery. He served in the Confederate Army. 3. Dear Folks, (And Rena, whose email address I thought I had bookmarked), I have now got a few more photos from Rena's mother to put into the Craig County Residents (buried inside and outside the county) Page at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Fields/3270/ It will be a couple or a few days before I get them up there. A note to Rena... One of the inscriptions is mostly visible, but a bit of it I can't read. If you can let me know what it says... It is about this life not having much to offer... One other I do not see anything at all in the way of an inscription, and it is blocked by things... Thanks for sending them. I will scan them, take care of them, and return them. Vince

    3. Pat, Is the John A. Reynolds you are looking for b.1831 and married Lucinda Ann Snodgrass? His grandfather was also John A. b.24 May 1780 so not sure which you are looking for. Have a little on them so let me know what you need. Jack Nida Jonesboro, GA Ted & Pat wrote: > > Hi Listers, > > I am researching a John A. Can you accept GEDCOM files? Yes, please, by all means, do that research! Thanks, Vince Jackie Downen wrote: > > Hi, I have Virginia Lipes, Marilyn Ruble, Sarah Reynolds, Virginia (Lipes) > Reynolds. 1. Re: [VACRAIG-L] More detail on my few HOUSEMAN's...
    2. Jennifer Lyon
    3. Vince -- I can give you all the gory details on how the 2 lines were related. Lewis HOUSEMAN was uncle of Samuel L. and Julia Ann Houseman. Samuel and Julia Ann's father was Peter Houseman, brother of this Lewis (there were a couple Lewis Housemans, but they weren't father & son). Peter and Lewis' father was Christian Houseman, who was the first Houseman in Botetourt County. He deeded land for Brick Union church (which I understand from other researchers is no longer in existence) and is believed to be buried in the old Brick Union cemetery with his wife Eve Reichert Houseman. Note...most of the Botetourt county Housemans actually spelled the name HOUSMAN. My 2-great grandfather, who was Samuel L. Houseman, married Martha Jane Lipes, sister of Samuel Moses Lipes, and moved further south, first to Carroll County with brothers William and Jeremiah, then around the Civil war or soon thereafter, he moved to Wythe County where he lived out near Crockett. Samuel is buried in Mt. Ephraim Methodist Church cemetery, and we believe his wife Martha is buried there also (although there is no stone...) --jsl ----- Original Message ----- From: Vincent Edward Summers <vsummers@nrao.edu> To: <VACRAIG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 10, 1999 9:04 PM Subject: [VACRAIG-L] More detail on my few HOUSEMAN's... > Not sure if the former letter by Jackie was addressed to me or to > someone else, but here is the bit of info I have... > > LEWIS HOUSEMAN, b. 3. Here are my John's, Jackie. If the dates match, please let me know. I can accept any size mail attachment, can open FTW files, GEDCOM, or am happy to receive an exported .rtf file. I mostly do not like .doc files, though. Too proprietary. Still, I can take care of it at work if that is all you have... John E. Reynolds married Sarah, and had issue: Virginia E. Reynolds who was b. Aug. 20, 1861, and married James Washington RUBLE. John Edward Francis Reynolds, b. Sept. 28, 1870, d. Feb. 28, 1917; married Maggie Arizona LIPES. I have more. 3. Jackie -- Have lots on HOUSEMANs although a bit scarce on the Botetourt Housemans in this century only (lots earlier). I live right now in Colorado Springs, but am moving to Northern Virginia in early August. Once I'm settled there, I hope to go down to Botetourt County this fall for a weekend. It'll be a few days before I can send you anything. I'm having knee surgery tomorrow and will be out of pocket part of next week. I also have a lot of KESSLER info and some GIVEN info I can share. --jsl ----- Original Message ----- From: Jackie Downen <jjd@uia.net> To: <VACRAIG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 10, 1999 8:26 PM Subject: Re: [VACRAIG-L] Steve please contact me about Ross Cemetery > Hi, How wonderful to find a cousin! 3. Jackie -- Are you descended from Mary Jane Ross? Her mother Margaret Kessler was a daughter of John Kessler and Elizabeth HOUSEMAN. Elizabeth HOUSEMAN is a very distant great aunt of mine. I'm doing research on the HOUSEMANs and any and all descendents I can find. I have children's names & some spouses for Mary Jane and Isaiah Givens, but am always interested in more... especially if it means I get to find new cousins. --jsl ----- Original Message ----- From: Jackie Downen <jjd@uia.net> To: <VACRAIG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 10, 1999 5:36 PM Subject: Re: [VACRAIG-L] Steve please contact me about Ross Cemetery > Hi, Are you a Ross?
