Hello, I am happy to announce that the second edition of my book, The Family von Nida - From Germany to America 1262-1999 is now available. In addition to the immigrant, Johann David von Nida, many of his ancestors are identified in over 700 years of this family history. William Hawkins (wife Jane) died 1854 (probate of will dated 1848) in Craig County, Virginia. There is said to be an obituary for William Hawkins, farmer. Need to know where to look for the obituary, 1854, and what newspaper to expect it to have appeared in. Thanks so much, JoLee
A correction may be in order on the message I just sent in on this ROBISON-CALDWELL line. It may be that the triplets I mentioned may have been 2 girls and 1 boy, instead of triplet sisters. Sorry for the mistake. SLTH2@AOL.COM
Seeking information about question from MEKLO21@AOL.COM--Would this be William ROBISON b.abt.1739 m.abt.1769 to ______? CALDWELL/COLWELL that had two sons, Alexander C. and John, that married sisters, two of triplet sisters named LYNCH? Do you suppose Alexander's middle name was CALDWELL? Would be happy to exchange information. SLTH2@AOL.COM
Interested in hearing from those who research the CALDWELL/ COLWELL lines. I'm especially interested in Miss Caldwell that m. William ROBESON, abt. 1770. Their last son's name was Alexander CALDWELL/COLWELL ROBESON. MEKLO21@AOL.COM
To all - this student is doing fascinating research. He will appreciate any leads, and I told him we all would be interested in hearing about the results. I hope he gets an A on the project! I have been constantly looking for a Lewis Williams born about 1825 or 1826 that married Luticia (Farley) 1850 In Giles Co. I have been able to get census records for them and the Marriage record that list them in the Giles Co Va, area. But that is all that I can come up with on Lewis Williams.I can not find a date for his death,I think that he may of died after 1897 , just not sure.I have not been able to find the parents of Lewis or any of his brothers & sisters that he may of had.If I can get any help on this I really would appreciate any thing that may help me on my search, Thank you. Debbie
Hi Debbie, Did you go into the IGI source for a marriage cert??? It's there I've seen it, unfortunately, it doesn't have the Ancestorial chart...but, Debbie, you can take those # "Batch" and Sheet, go to the library....there's all your answer right there...please try this...when you go to IGI do NOT put in the parents name....or any middle name...etc. less is more in this case..."just put in...LEWIS WILLIAMS and LUTICA FARLEY you will get a certificate...please let me know what happens when you try this....write down the sheet # etc...and order from your local mormon library. I'm doing that right now, as frustrated as you are..can't find my greatgr.father's parents in Ireland and not having any luck. Thanks, I will check it out. Vince > The only date I have got Howard Burns Carper is July 1881 in Craig > County. and I do not have any children listed for him at this time. > And no I have not heard of any Carper reunions. Sorry. > Steve >
Yes, I can believe that. For other counties I have seen the occasional error. Generally, I am using it if I have no source or if the source was only an individual, or if the source is LDS. Any other help you can come up with on any of those other names, Steve, will be appreciated. How is your health doing now? Do you know of any Carper reunion that has been held in recent times, or if anyone, who tends to organize them? My mother-in-law is still alive, Rachel Adeline Carper Davis, d/o Howard Burns Carper, Sr. Oh! Howard's tombstone date vs birth record. There is one that is difficult to chose between. They are different. I will just list both. Do you have a third source on that one? Thanks, Vince > > Vince > I have 2 John Anteny Sizers, one born 5 March 1886 in Craig County to Joseph > and Virginia McCartney Sizer. married on 14 October 1909 in Buchanan, > Virginia to Sarah A. Vince The only date I have got Howard Burns Carper is July 1881 in Craig County. and I do not have any children listed for him at this time. And no I have not heard of any Carper reunions. Sorry. Steve
Vince I have 2 John Anteny Sizers, one born 5 March 1886 in Craig County to Joseph and Virginia McCartney Sizer. married on 14 October 1909 in Buchanan, Virginia to Sarah A. Abbott. The other one is a son of Don Wayne Sizer and Millie Ramsey. Also just thought I would let you know these Craig birth records are not always correct since they list a james Craft born to James and Mary Craft on 18 April 1888 as being born dead. Well he was my great uncle and he was born on April 17,1888 and died on 21 September 1956. he married in 1907 and had 7 kids. not bad for a dead baby. Steve
Andrew, Rufus, and Mary Sizer are given to Joseph Anthony Sizer and Virginia (Apparently Jennie) Emoline McCartney, as issue in the Ancestry Database: Craig County, Virginia Births, 1853-1896. However, John Anteny Sizer is NOT give to them, but to James and "A." Sizer. Can anyone straighten this out? Thanks, Vince
