Hello Charlotte Co.! I am researching my husband's family, and his maternal grandmother, Mary "Kathryn" HOLT, is from Charlotte Co. The surnames listed in the subject section are those that I am interested in researching. I have been able to identify my husband's great-great grandfather Marcellus HOLT b. ~1842 (per the Virginia 1870 Census Index). He married Emma EAST, and they had four children: Leslie Taylor (my husband's great-grandfather and father to Kathryn), Paschal, Benjamin, and Josephine. The family lived in the Phenix area, and they attended Bethel Baptist Church (Marcellus and his son Leslie Taylor are buried in the church cemetery). I believe that Marcellus had a brother named Nicholas HOLT who was wounded during the Civil War, and family photographs show a scar square in the middle of his forehead from the bullet wound. Leslie Taylor HOLT (b. November 11, 1881 d. 1942) married Mary Willie HARVEY (b. February 05, 1882 d. 1951)...Mary was the daughter of Henry Watkins HARVEY and Susie RAINE. Mary was one of eight Harvey children: Mary, Henry, Cleveland, Allie, Norma, Irene, Julia, and Dorothy. The Harvey family was Presbyterian. I am desperately seeking anyone with whom I can share information. I could not locate Marcellus Holt on the 1850 and 1860 Virginia Census Indices. Any response is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Lisa
