Several of us are putting some Charlotte County families together through communication on the internet. I was searching for the parents of Joseph Wilson Sr. of Prince Edward (I thought). Recently discovered: John and Mary (____) Willson bought land in 1768 from Thomas Harvey. John died in 1779 (inventory of estate, Charlotte Co.). Mary Wilson, presumed widow of John since there are no others of the surname in the records, appeared on the 1782-1793 tax rolls of Charlotte. She gave permission in neighboring Campbell County for her daughter Anne to marry Thomas Harvey, son of William and Sarah (___) Harvey of Charlotte. Others who appear to be sons of John and Mary (_____) Wil(l)son are: David, Robert, James, and Joseph Sr. Their daughter Anne married Thomas Harvey in 1792. Joseph Wilson Sr. married Elizabeth HUDSON in 1780, and is on the tax rolls in both Charlotte and Prince Edward when he died in 1815 (will, Prince Edward Co.). Their sons Hudson and Nathaniel Wilson were in the area until their deaths c. 1850. Does anyone know more about the WILSONs, the HARVEYs, the PAULETTEs, the JOHNSONs of Charlotte, Campbell, and/or Prince Edward Counties? Ann in CA--and hot on the trail of ma' family!
