Many of you have the book "Charlotte County, Rich Indeed." on pp 16-17 there is a copy of a report by John Lederer from 1670, after exploring the area which now contains Charlotte County. The Indians of the area believed that all mankind was descended from four women, for whom they had names. When I first read this in 1995, I recalled an article in "Science", Jan. 15, 1993 by Ann Gibbons. In the article she relates the genetic evidence that all Native Americans from pole to pole can be traced to four women by four different DNA variants. This evidence suggests two migrations from Asia, one from the region of Siberia. These specific gene mutations are found only in Asia and the Americas.
