    3. Seeking any information on MOON family in Charlotte Co Va. John's inventory found in 1825, no will and no estate settlement. Married Martha Sampson, d/o of William Sampson. Had a brother William C. MOON who purchased land of William Sampson in Charlotte co in 1784. Had been together with Sampsons in Cumberland and most likely in Albemarle before that. Any info welcome. happy to share.     3. Hi everybody in Charlotte. happy to find list. I am working on a number of families in Charlotte Co. In particular right now, I am working on the families of Lewis JACKSON d. 1795 m Frances RICHARDSON. Thier son Ralph Jackson m. Polly HARVEY in 1804. His brother Lewis JACKSON (jr) m. Elizabeth HARVEY HINES (widow of Henry) and sister to Polly Harvey. The HARVEY'S are those of Thomas BW Harvey of Butterwood Creek area. Thomas d. 1782, Capt John Harvey and son Thomas BW Harvey. I have a fair amount of info to share on Thomas and father Capt John Harvey. Hamletts are those of Morris HAMLETT, William P HAMLETT, and Thomas HAMLETT. William P. Hamlett m. Catherine Collins and Thomas m. 1. Nancy Johnson and 2. Sarah St. John ??? Morris Hamlett's wife MAY be mary Porter of Henrico Co , but that is NOT proven. would like to talk with any Jackson descendants, especially of Ralph Jackson of Chesterfield Co and sons Joseph, Ralph, Francis, Joel, Lewis and ?Mark. (There were more than likely girls as well, but I don't know them). Lewis and Frances Richardson Jackson's known children (to me) are" Frances, Obedience, Phebe, Francis, Joel, Nancy, Lewis, and Ralph T. There are more than likely older children than Frances, as these are taken from orphan and guardian records and by that would indicate an approximate age and the fact of a known marriage date would mean that there should be several other children older than she.     3. I would like to contact anyone with information on or a connection with either of the late 1700's RAWLINGS families of Charlotte County, VA. headed separately by John and William RAWLINGS. They are both supposedly part of a well-known Surry Co RAWLINGS family that is traceable back to the early 1600's, but I have not been able to bridge the gap. The story (unconfirmed by me) is that Surry Co John RAWLINGS (1680-1752) md Mary Jones and had three children Gregory, John, and William then died in Lunenburg Co in 1752. I think the John and Wm of Charlotte Co are two of those sons, but I can't prove it. I have summarized what I know below: The first time I see William is in Lunenburg Court Record #3 pg 189 (1754) where there is a note that John RAWLINGS left an orphan William and assigned a guardian (Henry May) who together with Thomas Jones posted a bond. Henry May owned land in what would be Charlotte Co on Horsepen Creek (Little Roanoke) as early as 1746-47. John and William RAWLINGS end up living off of Horsepen Creek after 1771. There is no mention in this of Gregory or John, only William. Henry May, Brunswick Co, 25 June 1747, 554a. On both sides of the first Creek of Little Roanoke river. Pat 28, 1746-49, p.80 Henry may, Lunenburg Co. 25 Sep 1746, 328a. On both sides of the first fork of Little Roanoak adj Richard Randolph. Pat 24, p.529. By 1760 Henry May owns 868a there adjacent to Williams, Martin, and Walden (Pat 33, p741) William is next seen marrying Mary Magdelene Roberts in Halifax in 1767. John also was in Halifax near this time and married Sally __ about this time (no record yet found of that marriage). John and William then purchased land on Horsepen Creek in Charlotte Co in 1771, moved there, raised families there, and lived the rest of their lives in Charlotte Co. Deed Bk 3, Charlotte Co. 1771-1777 Pg. 26 dated Oct. 25, 1771 from Alexander Roberts (note: this is William's father-in-law) and Martha, his wife of Mecklenberg Co. to William RAWLINS of Halifax co. for 5 Schillings, a tract of land, about 200 acres, it being the land said Alexander Roberts bought of Jesse Brown, joining the lands of John Rawlins, William Fushler, and Blank's orphans. signed Alexander Roberts, Martha Roberts, Witness: Shadrack & Dury Overby, Nathaniel (his mark 0 with a - in the middle) FRANCIS. recorded Dec. 2, 1771. PG. 50 dated Sept. 3, 1771 from John Ashworth to John RAWLINS of Halifax, for 35 pounds a tract of 150 acres in Charlotte Co. bounded by Samuel Ashworth, Blank, Alexander ROBERTS, Jonathan Abot. witness: Ja Watkins, Martha Watkins. Evidently John's wife Sally died (probably 1779-1780) because he re-married Neff Terrell 19 June 1781 with William as the surety. John and his first wife Sally had children Sally (md. Bartlett James) and Letty (md. Archibald Fulks). It is possible that one or both of the next two children were also from Sally, i.e. Margaret (Peggy) and Mary (Polly) The m.b. of Bartlett James to Sally Rolings, d/o John and Sally Rolings who consent, 6 March 1791, is recorded in Halifax Co., Va., shows Bartlett son of "Huke Thomas James" (Mar. Bonds...Halifax Co., VA 1753-1800,p. p.51, Knorr). Note – how can Sally consent since John has been re-married for 10 years – surely Sally died. This is my John’s dau Sally because she is mentioned in his will as Sally James and see next. (Info from JoLee Speers) Emigration to Other States From Southside VA, v1, Elliott, page 43, shows in a P/A - Bartlett James of Montgomery Co., NC identifies himself as a legatee of the estate of John Rawlins, Senr., Charlotte Co., VA.(Char.Co.DB 13:109) (Info from JoLee Speers) IGI shows: Sally Rawlings b c1770 in Hallifax as a dau of William Rawlings and Mary Magdaline Roberts (Source Batch Number F877351 5) and Mary Magdelene Rawlings b c1773 in Charlotte Co.(Film 2034704 no parents listed). I don't put too much stock in the accuracy of this IGI info. It is much more likely they are John's children since he did have a Sally md 1791 and a Mary (Polly) md 1805.     3. Trying to find parents and siblings of Cyrus Paine (various spellings) CONNOLLY. He was born ca. 1779, somewhere in VA. In 1797. he witnessed a will in Charlotte Co., along with a William G. CONNOLLY who may be a brother. By 1810, Cyrus P. was in Burke Co., NC. Family tradition (written up in the early 1930s) says that Cyrus's mother was a PAINE and her mother was a JAMES. Cyrus P. married Elizabeth CALLICOT in NC. Elizabeth also descended from the JAMES line, and her family had roots in VA. Any and all leads greatly appreciated! Ruth Ann

I am looking for any info on the parents and siblings of MOSES HOLLAND, born 11/17/1758 (reportedly in Culpeper, VA, but no record of him there), died 9/8/1829 in Williamson, Anderson Cty., SC. He was in the Revolution, and was present at the Battle of Yorktown. He married (1) MARY E. BARTON , in Virginia, on 4/4/1784, and (2) Grace King, in SC, about 1813. s and Mary moved from Virginia to South Carolina about 1788. At least children of Moses and Mary are believed to have been born in Virginia. dren of Mary and Moses were Ellender, James Chesley, John, Frances and Thomas. There is a Moses Holland listed in the first Charlotte Cty, VA census. Military records indicate a Moses Holland, drummer boy, in the Charlotte Cty militia during the Revolution.
