Sheila, If you ever find out the answer, I'd appreciate your sharing the information. The 1870 census shows Mary A. Dalton, age 32 living in the home of Emily Mabry. With her are her children, Roxina, age 7; James A, age 5; Lilly C., age 6 /12. Emily Mabry, age 34, was married to Alfred Mabry and had at least two children; William and Martin. I don't know what happened to Alfred, but I expect he died in the war. I have not found him in any unit records nor have I found his death record. Son William married Jane East Dalton and Martin married Mary Ellen Dalton. My suspicions are that Emily and Mary were sisters and were the daughters of Lewis and Lucinda (Brizendine) Dalton. If you check the 1850 census, women of that name and ages are living in Lewis's household. By 1860, Emily has married but Mary/Polly is still there but now with with two daughters. In 1880, Roxina (age 17) was listed as a servant in the home of Isaac Jennings and there is a James Alex (age 13) listed as a servant in the home of Reuben Dalton only a few households away. There is a marriage record for a Roxie Orlena Dalton, daughter of Polly Dalton, in 1918 to William C. Dalton. If anyone can provide any help, I'd appreciate being able to straighten out my records. I have found the Daltons very difficult to research. Shelia Parker <wmtwmn@yahoo.c To: VACARROL-L@rootsweb.com om> cc: (bcc: Ronald W.
