Galax Gazette Obits--November 01, 2001 DOROTHY ANNE TOBLER Dorothy Anne Sokat Tobler, 83, of Hillsville, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax. She was born March 14, 1918, in Paterson, N.J., to Bert and Anna Sokat. She was the widow of Werner W. Tobler Jr. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Trudi and Dave Dunham of Roanoke; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sandy Tobler of Patrick Springs; a son, Werner Tobler of the home; two granddaughters; a sister-in-law, Fran Sokat of Brownsville, Texas; and a host of relatives in Vermont, Arizona, California, New Hampshire and New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gladesboro Lutheran Church of Hillsville, the Joy Ranch School of Woodlawn, the American Cancer Society, the Damon Runyan Cancer Fund, or the Hillsville Women’s Club. Following cremation, there will be a family visitation at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home in Hillsville on Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with a memorial service following with Pastor Duane Steele officiating.Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home, Hillsville, is in charge of arrangements. RUTH THOMAS ARGABRITE Ruth Thomas Argabrite, 75, Grant, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at her home. She was born Aug. 31, 1926, in Grant to Eli Fountain and Cessie Darthulia Pugh Thomas. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda ogle of Lansing, N.C., and Loretta and Chip Painter of Independence; a sister, Virginia Thomas of Grant; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Ada Thomas of Grant and Joe and Wilma Thomas of Asheboro, N.C.; and a granddaughter, Amanda Painter of Bluefield. A funeral was held Monday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with burial in the Grant Cemetery. The Rev.
