She is survived by sons, Corey Edward Carter and Scott Fitzgerald Carter both of Pulaski; father, Robert O. Taylor of Galax; mother, Marsha L. Taylor of Galax; sisters, Gloria P. Taylor Johnson of Lorton, Dallas Mae Taylor of Pulaski, Vivian L. Taylor Mitchell of Fredricksburg, Lavonne R. Taylor of Woodbridge, Linda Y. Taylor Holiday of Galax; brothers, Perry L. Taylor of Lorton and Stevie D. Taylor of Pulaski; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Funeral was July 26 at 2 p.m. in Mt. Zion Church conducted by Pastor Anthony L. Johnson and Elder George Rodgers. Burial was in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. LONA M. DAVIS Lona Malinda Davis, 97, of Dugspur, died July 26, 2001, in Waddell Nursing Home, Galax. She is survived by four sons, Alva (Jerry) Davis of Dugspur, Dwight Davis of Columbus, OH, Harold Davis of Magadoro, OH, Bryan Davis of Shinnston, WV; two daughters, Georgia Smith of Charleston, SC, Brenda Bracken of Forest Hills, NC; one sister, Jessie Riffle of Wooster, OH; 24 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral was July 30 at 11 a.m. in Dalton Presbyterian Church, Dalton, OH. Burial was in the Dalton Cemetery, Wayne County, OH ALBERT E. KING Albert Edward "Ed" King, 63, of Barren Springs, died July 22, 2001, in West Columbia, TX. He is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Stephens of Austinville; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Leslie King of Mt. Airy, NC; three grandchildren; two brothers, Mark and Danny Hogue both of Richmond. A memorial service was held July 29 at 3 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel in Austinville with the Rev. Ronald King officiating. RYAN MEADOWS Ryan Meadows, 70, of Galax, died July 25, 2001, in Twin County Regional Hospital. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Meadows Pardue of Morganton, NC and Suzi Meadows Musick of Fort Smith, AR; a son, Alfred Clifton Meadows III of Goose Creek, SC; 12 grandchildren. A memorial service was held July 27 at 2 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Renee Lewis. HENRIETTA H. REYNOLDS Henrietta Hargis Reynolds, 88, of Lebanon, died July 29, 2001, in a Knoxville, TN hospital. Funeral services will be held Aug. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Green Valley Baptist Church in Lebanon. The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. Grave side services will be held Thursday, Aug. 2 at 11 a.m. at the Wilkinson Cemetery in Hillsville. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Hillsville. CARROLL G. ROBERTS Carroll Gene Roberts, 61, of Galax, died July 27, 2001, at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Diana Roberts; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Allen Rosenbaum of Galax; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Cindy Roberts of Galax; sisters, Hazel Waddell and Ovella Rosenbaum both of Galax, Veda Robinson of Woodlawn; three grandchildren. Funeral was July 29 in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Ted Bartlett, Billy Redd and Roger Redd. Burial was in Popes Knob Cemetery. MAGGIE E. SHUMATE Maggie Elizabeth Shumate, 97, of Hillsville, died July 26, 2001, in Beverly Health Care, Galax. She is survived by two daughters, Dana Vinson of Hillsville and Ruth Baldasarre of Lake Oswego, OR; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Shumate of Hillsville; three sisters, Imogene Jennings of Ponce De Leon, FL, Grave Stoneman of Galax, Lillian Wilson of Radford; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral was July 28 at 3 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel conducted by the Rev. Steve Stephenson. Burial was in the Dalton Hill Cemetery. LARRY G. STONE Larry Gene Stone, 61, of Brimfield, OH, formerly of Carroll County, died July 25, 2001, at his home in Ohio. He is survived by his mother, Sadie Coulson; eight sisters, Sheila Shupe of Hillsville, Carolyn Coulson of Richmond, Nova Wagg of Galax, Lola Horning of Alexandria, Mary Alford of Loudon, TN, D.J. Coulson, Gail Coulson and Nancy Coulson all of Richmond; five brothers, Thomas Coulson of Christiansburg, Ottis Coulson of Max Meadows, Michael Coulson of Woodlawn, Dale Coulson and Danny Coulson both of Hillsville. Funeral was July 29 in Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel. Burial was in the Round Knob Church Cemetery. C.P. STONEMAN, SR. Charles Pierce Stoneman, Sr., better known as "Bald Eagle", 57, of Independence, died July 26, 2001, at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Martha Jean Stoneman; daughter, Rachel Stoneman of Independence; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Mary Stoneman of Galax; brother, Lloyd Stoneman of Galax; two grandchildren, two step grandchildren. Funeral was July 26 at 2 p.m. in Calvary Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. James Billings and the Rev. Terry Vaughan. Burial was in the McKenzie Cemetery. Military Rites were conducted by Grayson VFW Post 7726.
