The Galax Gazette Lorene Edna Sage, 69 Lorene Edna Sage, 69, of Galax, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Martinsville Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Rex Sage. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Hooven of Galax; two sisters, Patsy Galyean of Galax and Betty Crum of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two brothers, Bobby Parks of Hillsville and Sammy Parks of Elk Creek; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Patrick "Gene" Goad of Hillsville; a brother, Ralph Barnard of Meadows of Dan; a niece; a great-niece; and a great-nephew. A funeral was held Saturday at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home with burial in the Thomas Alderman Cemetery. ============= Elsie Marie Spurline Elliott, 57, of Galax, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1943, in Galax to Lon and Minnie Pearl East Spurline. Survivors include her husband, Bert Lee Elliott of Galax; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Ruth Elliott of Galax; two sisters-in-law, Florence Goins of Fries and Edna Elliott of Independence; two brothers-in-law, Albert Elliott of Galax and Kyle Elliott of Fries; a stepgranddaughter; several aunts; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held June 23 at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with burial in the McKenzie Cemetery. The Rev. Myron Dalton officiated.
