She was born Sept. 2, 1932, in Mouth of Wilson to Walter W. and Mary Margaret Greer Holdaway. She was the last surviving child of a Confederate Veteran in Carroll County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Gardner and Elizabeth Banks Gardner. She was born in New York, N.Y., the daughter of the late Charles Arthur and Bertha Delp Jackson. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Arthur Barbour. Mrs. Jackson graduated from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in 1936 and was the Lead Mines registrar for many years. She was a member and teacher of Bethany United Methodist Church and past president of the WSCS. Survivors include her husband, Thomas M. Jackson Sr.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, J.A. "Sandy" and Joanne M. Barbour of Roanoke, Robert H. Barbour of Austinville and Thomas M., Jr., and Cynthia J. Jackson of Hillsville; four grandchildren and their spouses, David Brian and Kelee M.
