    2. GALAX GAZETTE ============ Jencie Jo Hall Burchett, 91, of Independence, a resident of Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Independence, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at the center. She was born Oct. 22, 1909, to Ciscero and Rettie Hall Hall. Survivors include her husband, George Burchett of Independence; a daughter, Barbara Bramhall of Beltsville, Md.; a son, Bill Sebastian of Abingdon; a sister, Edna Johnson of College Park, Md.; a brother, Henry F. Hall of Volney; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Hall Cemetery, Volney. All relatives and friends are invited to attend. The Rev. Douglas Halsey will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hall Cemetery, c/o the Rev. She was born May 12, 1949, in Galax to Robert O. Taylor and the late Annie Mae Saunders Taylor. Survivors include two sons, Corey Edward Carter and Scott Fitzgerald Carter, both of Pulaski; her father, Robert O. Taylor; her mother, Marsha L. Taylor of Galax; five sisters, Gloria P. Taylor Johnson of Lorton, Dallas Mae Taylor of Pulaski, Vivian L. Taylor Mitchell of Fredricksburg, Lavonne R. Taylor of Woodbridge and Linda Y. Taylor Holiday of Galax; two brothers, Perry L. Taylor of Lorton and Stevie D. Taylor of Pulaski; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Thursday at Mount Zion Church with burial in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Anthony L. Johnson and Elder George Rodgers officiated. Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. =========== Sarah Katherine Hackler, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be held Aug. 4 at 5 p.m. at Mount Vale United Methodist Church in Galax. ============= Ryan Meadows, 70, of Galax, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital. He was born Sept. 2, 1930, in Virginia to Cyrus Bonham and Sue Slemp Bonham. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Meadows Pardue of Morganton, N.C., and Suzie Meadows Musick of Fort Smith, Ark.; a son, Alfred Clifton Meadows III of Goose Creek, S.C.; and 12 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held today, Friday, at 2 p.m. at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with the Rev. Renee Lewis officiating. ============== Ray Kedric Ward, Jr., 58, of Hickory, N.C., died Monday, July 23, 2001. He was born April 22, 1943, in Galax to Ray Kedric Warf and Carrie Elizabeth Leonard Warf. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Jo Jennings Warf; a son, Jimmy Ray Warf of Granite Falls, N.C.; a daughter, Vonda Ann Nanney of Hickory; seven sisters, Helen Marie Fender, Peggy Mae Ball, Melba Lee Lawson, Linda Faye Dixon, Edith Ann Warf, Janet Sue Hawks and Hilda Joyce Poole; three brothers, Roy James Warf, Clyde Ervin Warf and Larry Jean Warf; five grandchildren; and many friends. A funeral was held Thursday at Springs Road Baptist Church with the Revs. Arthur Yount, Bob Philback and J.T. Cline officiating.
