Our father has departed his earthly home to be with his beloved wife and son. William Howard Taft McHone, 91, formerly of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, July 6, 2001, at Village Care Nursing Home in King. Mr. McHone was born in Carroll County, Va., on April 12, 1910. His parents were the late Marion and Stella Hall McHone. He is survived by a sister, Louise McHone Brown of Mount Airy; a daughter, Norma McHone Tickle of Mount Airy; and a son, Bob McHone of Winston-Salem; two daughters-in-law, Patsy Estes McHone of Mount Airy and Jeanette Morgan McHone of Winston-Salem; a son-in-law, Oliver Tickle of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Ronald Tickle of Mount Airy, Brian Tickle of Christiansburg, Va.; Kimlah McHone Landreth of Kernersville, and Pamela McHone Barrans of Advance; six great-grandsons, Christopher Barrans, Jordan Landreth, Brandon Barrans, Kadin Tickle, Chase Tickle, and Brady Tickle; and a great-granddaughter, Ericka Tickle. Mr. McHone was a member of Franklin Heights United Methodist Church of Mount Airy. He served in the U. S. Army in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Moser McHone; a son, Kelly E. McHone; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Simmons McHone. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 9, in the Chapel of Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy, conducted by the Rev. Lamar Tillman. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service on Monday at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and following the service at the home of Oliver and Norma Tickle on Tickle Road in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
