THE GALAX GAZETTE George Clifton Moore, 71, of Dorchester, died July 14, 200 in Dorchester County. Moore’s childhood home was in Carroll County, Va., a place he loved dearly. He was an amateur ham radio enthusiast, whose call letters were KB4FC. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was retired from Cummins Engine Company. Greeting George on the other side are his baby brother, Kenneth, his father, Porter Lee Moore; his mother, Cora Hawks Moore and his sister, Elinor Edwards. Survivors include his son, Terry Moore and his wife, Beverly; his daughter, Sheila Haddad and her husband, Roger; three grandchildren; five sisters, Avonia Heizman, BettyThrush, Mildred McBride, Marylin Turner and Joan Bobbitt. A funeral service with full military honors, will be held at Beauford National Cemetery today, July 23 at noon. Charleston, S.C. 29406. =========== Boyd Dempsy Jones, 78, of Woodlawn, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center at Salem. Survivors include his wife, Carol June Jones of the home; three daughters and a son-in-law, Peggy Hager and Virginia DeMarco, both of Penn., and Rose Mary and Dale Baddorf of W.Va.; five step-children and spouses, Wayne and DeeDee Sabath of Woodlawn, Jeff and Brenda Sabath, Wendy Bacon, Dawn and Jon Pugh and Kelly and Darin Meyers, all of Penn.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant View Cemetery. She as the widow of Delbert Cooper. She was born in Grayson County on Jan. 19, 1911 to William Ervin and Lori Reedy. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Loretta C. and Tom Higgins of Floyd; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Shari Cooper of Pittsburg, Penn.; a sister, Jessie Leigh Greer of Troutdale; a brother, Norman Reedy of Volney; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Monta Vista Cemetery. =============== Lois Virginia Sayers, 75, of Galax, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at her residence. She was born in Wythe county on sept. 17, 1925 to John M. Allison and Beatrice Dickens Allison. Survivors include her husband, Clyde F. Sayers Sr. of Galax; nine children and their spouses, Kenneth and Anita Allison of Madison, Wis., Brenda and Larry Whitaker, Frank and Klyce Sayers, Diane and Jimmy Butcher, Kathy and Carter Smith, Danny and Priscilla Sayers, Penny and Bucky Melton and Vicky and Shorty Testerman, all of Galax, and Debbie King of King Mountain, N.C.; two step-daughters, Patty Johnson of Greensboro, N.C. and Dorothy Sayers of Ivanhoe; three sisters, Velma Fredricks, Lucilla Grubb and Donna Young, all of Wytheville; one brother, Dennis Allison of Austinville; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include her husband, Robert Junior Sizemore of Woodlawn; four children and their spouses, Robert Eugene England of New Orleans, La., Harold Dean and Laura England of Dugspur, Kathy Diane and Richard Newman of Fries and Tony Lawrence and Peggy Sizemore of Galax; three sisters, Virginia Darlene Mabe and Alice Ruth Lowe, both of Burlington, N.C., and Margie Colene Hodges of Red Brush, N.C.; five brothers, Billy Ray Gallimore of Thomasville., N.C., Buddy Gallimore of Beulah, N.C., Roy Gallimore of Dobson, N.C., Troy Gallimore of Thomasville, N.C., and June Gallimore of Burlington, N.C.; six grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
