    2. Galax Gazette Zeb V. Black, 81, of Woodlawn, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax. Black was born March 15, 1920, in Alleghany County, N.C. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, George and Debbie Black of Hillsville; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law and spouse, R.C. and Bonnie Reeves of Independence; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Dowell of Independence; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Friday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with burial in the Mount Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, Piney Creek, N.C. Military rites were conducted at graveside by the Grayson County VFW Post 7726. The Rev. Fred E. Jennings, and Elders Terry Wilson and Samuel Parrish officiated. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Abigail Boyer, 403 Churchview Lane, Fries, Va. 24330. ============= Patricia Faye Copeland, 44, of Galax, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was born Aug. 9, 1056, in North Carolina to Ernest A. and Maude Melton Walker. Survivors include her husband, Charles Copeland of Galax; three daughters, Sally Emond, Holly Copeland and Courtney Copeland, all of Galax; her mother, Maude Walker of Galax; her maternal grandmother, Thelma Melton of Galax; a sister, Mary Gardner of Hillsville; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Friday at Fairlawn Church of Christ with burial in the church cemetery. Keith Homema and the Rev. Eugene Moore officiated =============== Doss Greer, 78, of Whitetop, died Thursday, July 5, 2001 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. He was born Sept. 11, 1922 at Whitetop to Andrew and Ina Weaver Greer. He was a WWII veteran. Survivors include his wife, Doris Greer of the home; one sister, Ola Blevins of South Point, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Dayna Price of West Jefferson, N.C.; two stepsons, Harold Perry and Leonard Perry, both of Landsing, N.C.; and two step granddaughters. A funeral was held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel in Independence with burial in the Graham Cemetery in Lansing, N.C. The Rev. Lundy Finley and the Rev. Ronnie Miller officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of God, c/o elder Carl Hart, 1200 Mill Creek Road, Warrensville, N.C. 28693. ============== Virginia Gelene Hash, 69, of Independence, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, N.C. She was born June 19, 1932, in Independence to Guy and Myrtle Catron Hampton. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debbie and Donald Lundy of Galax, Linda and Gayle Elliott of Chilhowie and Cathy Bowman of Independence; a son and daughter-in-law, Rickie and Debbie Hash of Fries; two sisters, Helen Hoffman of Galax and Faye Funk of Fries; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral was held Thursday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with burial in the Hackler Cemetery. The Rev. Fred E. Jennings and Belford Bryant officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hackler cemetery, c/o Louise Milgrim, 109 Vista Road, Independence, Va. 24348. =================== Cecile Ann McGrady, 65, of Troutdale, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion. She was born July 16, 1935, in Troutdale to Ira Omar and Grace Blevins McGrady. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Wayne McGrady. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tim and Tammy McGrady of Rural Retreat, Tom McGrady of Charlottesville, and Todd and Scarlett McGrady of Troutdale; two sisters and a spouse, Betty Jane Grasso of Troutdale and Wanda and Joe Tuell of Crimora; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ira and Dolly McGrady of Elk Creek and David and Anita McGrady of Troutdale; two grandchildren; and two special nieces and one special nephew. A memorial service was held Thursday at the Troutdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Riggins officiating. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
