She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Beverly) Douglas of Radford; two sons and spouses, Curtis Anthony, Sr. and Rhonda Alley of Radofrd, Timothy Wayne and Mary Alley of Dublin; five grandsons; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mae Turpin of Pulaski and Jessie Pack of Fairlawn. Funeral was June 15 at 11 a.m. in the Dublin United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Richard Patterson. Burial was in Sunrise Burial Park, Fairlawn. Burnette, Wayne - Wayne Burnette, 71, of Galax, died June 15, 2001, in Beverly Health Care/Blue Ridge. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Mandy Burnette of Galax; two grandchildren; sister, Frances hauser of Concord, NC; brother, Richard Burnette of Galax. Funeral was June 17 in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel. The Rev. Ty Harrison and Pastor Ronny Harrison officiated. Burial was in the Jennigns (Jennings) Cemetery. Combs, William R. - Mr. William Revis Combs, 88, of Winston-Salem, NC, died June 11, 2001 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Combs was born to Sandy and Martha McCraw Combs on March 14, 1913, in Carroll County, VA. He was educated in the Carroll County schools. In 1948, he moved to Winston-Salem and founded Combs Wholesale Produce Co., where he was chairman and president until his retirement in 1993. A former decon and trustee of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, he was at the time of his death, a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. For more than 54 years, he was a member of the Hillsville, VA Masonic Lodge #193. he was predeceased by his parents, five sisters and two brothers. Mr. Combs is survived by his wife of 52 years, Arlee Webb Combs; a daughter, Sandra Combs Boyette and son-in-law, Dr. Gray Thomas Boyette of Winston-Salem; a son, Benny Revis Combs and daughter-in-law, Linda Sharpe Combs and two beloved grandchildren, Emily Revis Combs and Benjamin Andrew Combs all of Rural Hall, NC. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. W. A. Hall of Winston-Salem an Mrs. Earl Lowe of Hillsville, VA; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mr. And William G. Brucham of Hillsville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Cecil Cove and the Rev. Paul Riggs. Interment was in Cresview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. In addition to her parents, she is survived by maternal grandparents, Noah and Alice Quesenberry of Dugspur; paternal grandparents, Mary and Jimmy Testerman of Woodlawn; paternal grate-grandfather, Friel Dalton of Hillsville; maternal great-grandmother, Avis Quesenberry of Hillsville. Felts, 94, of Galax, died June 12, 2001, in Grayson Nursing & Rehab Center. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce and Paul Young of Manassas, Janice Harris of San Diego, CA; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Betty Felts of Palmetto, FL;, Ralph and Betty Lou Felts of Lakeland, FL; a daughter-in-law, Zelma Felts of Galax; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren. Largen, Mary B. - Mrs. Mary Margie Elizabeth Bowman Largen, age 89, of 161 Copeland Lane, Laurel Fork, VA, widow of the late Rush Largen, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA. Mrs. Largen was born January 15, 1912, in Carroll County, VA, a daughter of the late Harrison Bowman and Otilla Willard Bowman. She was a homemaker and member of Rome Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Kenneth parnell of Collinsville, VA; a grand-daughter and spouse Susan and Scott Agee of Martinsville, VA; a great-grandson, Kenneth Draper of Martinsville, VA; four sisters and brothers-in-law, haze and Bill Horton of Hillsville, VA, Velma Horton of Hillsville, VA, Vida and Rex Bowman of laurel Fork, VA, and Stella and Louis McGrady of Galax VA; a brother, Eugene Bowman of Radford, VA. In addtion to her parents and husband, Mrs. Largen was preceded in death by a brother, Dlema Bowman. The funeral service was held Sundad, June 17, 2991 at 2 p.m. at Rome Baptist Church. The service was conducted by the Rev. Joe parks and the Rev. John D. Bowman. Burial was in the Rome Baptist Church Cemetery. Lewis, Callie P. - Callie Payne lewis, 88, of Galax, VA, passed away Monday, June 11, 2001 at her residence. She was the widow of George W. Lewis. She was born in Carroll County, VA on July 12, 1912, to the late Jasper Lee and Effie Lowe Payne. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Ken Reedy; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald G. and Mary W. Lewis; sister, Alene Sykes all of Galax; grandchildren, Michele Snyder, Jason Criner, Aaron Criner, Jackie Lewis, Chris Lewis and Glisyn Lewis; step grandchildren, Kkevin Reedy, Darin Reedy and Amy Reedy; great-grandchildren, Dereck Crienr, Baylie Snyder, jermeiah Criner, Seth Criner, Jake Snyder, Heath Snyder and Dylan Coulson Lewis; step great-grandchildren, Keith Reedy and Kasey Reedy; several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lane; daughter, Fiona Lane-Sweeney of the home; father and setp mother, James and Lucia Sweeney of Roanoke; mother and step father, Linda and Wayne Clarkson of Roanoke; two sisters, Tammy Sweeney of Elgin, TX, Melody Sweeney of Brownwood, TX. A memorial service was held June 19 at 2 p.m. in Hillsville Presbyterian Church with Dr. O. Neil McCarter and the Rev. pete Bain officiating. Burial will be at a later date. White, Bertha F. - Bertha Frances White, 87, of Fries, died June 13, 2001, in Twin County Regional Hospital. She is survived by sisters, Beatrice Beasley of Galax and Venetta Davidson of Martinsville; brothers, Everette Jones and Billy Jones both of Fries; one granddaughter. Funeral was June 15 at 2 p.m. in Fries Church of God of Prophecy conducted by the Rev. Lacy King and the Rev. Robert Lanter. Burial was in St. Peters Lutheran Church Cemetery.
