    2. Mrs. Opal Upchurch Lewis, 88, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Lewis was born in Carroll County, Va., on April 19, 1913, to H. Floyd and Clara Stewart Upchurch. She lived most of her life in Forsyth County and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. after 32 years of service. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Myrtle Coulter, Ethel Poe and Gladys Upchurch, and her brother, Burris Upchurch. She is survived by a sister, Lessie Upchurch of the Hospice Home; a sister-in-law, Imogene Upchurch of Winston-Salem; three nephews, Tony Upchurch and wife Loretta of Winston-Salem, Leon Poe and wife Betty of Winston-Salem and Odell Poe and wife MaryAnn of Rural Hall; two nieces, Marilyn U. Yates and husband Michael of Winston-Salem and Clara U. Lazenby and husband Sonny, of King; and a niece-in-law, Shirley Upchurch. The family respectfully requests that family visitation be at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home or from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Lambsburg, Va., with Elder Arwood Edwards officiating. The body will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Wins-ton-Salem, NC 27103. -------------------- Mr. Herbert Sidney Talbert, 88, of West Clemmonsville Road died June 28, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Carroll County, Va., on Sept. 3, 1912, to William and Lou Howlett Talbert. Mr. Talbert was a self-employed farmer and dairyman. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Hettie Ragsdale Talbert; a daughter, Patsy T. Haga and husband Paul of Winston-Salem; three grand-children, Marty Haga and wife Vickie, Lynn O'Neal and hus-band Jeff, all of Winston-Salem ,and Cindy Turner and husband Wilbur of Benson; five great-grandchildren, Amy Howell, Julie Synder, Jessica Haga, Jennifer and Rebecca Dyson; and two great-great-grand-children, Chelsea and Leslie Howell. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2001, at the Hope Moravian Church graveyard, with the Rev. Galen Hahn officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family. ---------------------------------------- Eva Mildred Roberts, 80, of Fries, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Waddell Nursing Home. She was the widow of Harold Camet Roberts. She was born June 9, 1921, in Grayson County to Arthur Coleman and Mertie Phillips Coleman. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald Zane "Johnny" and Colleen Roberts of Harmony, N.C., Billy K. Roberts of Alexandria, and Joe David and Connie Roberts of the home; a half brother, Odell Coleman of Galax; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Thursday at Providence United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Tim Worgan officiated. He was born Aug. 30, 1941, at Comers Rock to Joseph Mitchell and Laura Belle Hackler Delp. Survivors include his wife, Linda Delp of the home; two sons, Joe Delp and Kenneth Delp, both of Elk Creek; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Michael Waller of Piney; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Claude and Geneva Delp, Straley and Peggy Delp, Wilbur and Peggy Delp, all of Elk Creek, and Howard and Donna Delp of Independence; six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Irene and J.C. Tolley, Anna Lee and Gene Hall, Nell Delp, Clara Sue and Jessie Moss, all of Elk Creek, Dorothy and Burley Alton Sawyers of Fries and Janet and Benny Cannon of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Henry Jones of Elk Creek; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Thursday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with burial in the Comers Rock Cemetery, Elk Creek. The Revs. Mark Wagg and Fred E. Jennings officiated. Box 306, Independence, Va. 24348, for funeral expenses. ---------------------------- Earl Baldwin, 78, of Troutdale, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Sanders Baldwin. He was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Whitetop to George C. and Bertha Jane Hart Baldwin. Survivors include a son, Mike Baldwin of Troudale; a daughter, Betty Sue Baldwin of the home; a brother, Rondie Baldwin of Elkton, Md.; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Wednesday at Troutdale Baptist Church, Troutdale, with burial in the Fairwood Cemetery. The Rev. Ken Riggins, Pastor Rick Shuler of Trinity Church and Fielden O’Dell Sanders Jr., officiated.
