    2. The Galax Gazette Laura Belle Delp, 94, of Elk Creek, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at her home. She was born June 14, 1906, in Comers Rock to Elbert McKinley and Rosa Alice Wright Hackler. She was the widow of Joseph Mitchell Delp. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Claude and Geneva Delp, Straley and Peggy Delp, Wilbur and Peggy Delp and Clark and Linda Delp, all of Elk Creek, and Howard and Donna Delp of Independence; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Irene and J.C. Tolley, Anna Lee and Gene Hall, Nell Delp, and Clara Sue and Jessie Moss, all of Elk Creek, Dorothy and Burley Alton Sawyers of Fries and Janet and Benny Cannon of Charlotte, N.C.; a son-in-law, Henry Jones of Elk Creek; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Elizabeth Hackler of Greensboro, N.C.; 20 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Thursday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with burial in the Comers Rock Cemetery, Elk Creek. The Revs. Paul Atwood and Owen Moore officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. ------------------------------------------------------------ Roxie W. Felts, 94, of Galax, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of Charles M. Felts. She was born Sept. 15, 1906, in Carroll County to Frazier and Dollie Morris Williams. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce and Paul Young of Manassas and Janice Harris of San Diego, Calif.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Berry Felts of Palmetto, Fla., and Ralph and Betty Lou Felts of Lakeland, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Zelma Felts of Galax; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held today, Friday, at 11 a.m. at Blue Ridge Chapel Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. David Moore and Jimmie Marion will officiate. Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements ------------------------------------------------------- Harry Raymond Kelly, 81, of Suffolk died Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Patecia Lewis Kelly; a daughter, Joyc Taylor of Bradenton, Fla.; two sons, Harry R. Kelly II of Mouth of Wilson and John T. Kelly of Galax; a step daughter, Joy Cullifer of Suffolk; and a sister, Helen Kelly Lanford of Portsmouth. A graveside service will be held today, Friday, at 11 a.m. at Olive Branch Cemetery. The rev. Damon Wyatt will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Dialysis Foundation. Sturtevant-Bennette Creek Chapel of Portsmouth is in charge of arrangements. ------------------------------------------------------- Callie Payne Lewis, 88, of Galax, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at her home. She was the widow of George W. Lewis. She was born July 12, 1912, in Carroll County to the late Jasper Lee and Effie Lowe Payne. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Ken Reedy of Galax; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald G. and Mary W. Lewis of Galax; a sister, Alene Sykes of Galax; six grandchildren, Michele Snyder, Jason Criner, Aaron Criner, Jackie Lewis, Chris Lewis and Glisyn Lewis; three stepgrandchildren, Kevin Reedy, Darin Reedy and Amy Reedy; seven great-grandchildren, Dereck Criner, Baylie Snyder, Jeremiah Criner, Seth Criner, Jake Snyder, Heath Snyder and Dylan Coulson Lewis; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Keith Reedy and Kasey Reedy; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Thursday at Hillcrest Baptist Church with burial in the Blue Ridge Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Fred Jennings officiated. Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
