    2. The Galax Gazette Walter Jackson "W.J." Arthur, 75, of Hillsville, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Jefferson and Annie Saunders Arthur; and a sister, Mozelle Murphy. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Arthur of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Roger Burnette of Galax and Kathy and Nathan McLamb of Stanton; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Pam Arthur of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Tyner Arthur of Eden, N.C.; a sister, Avis Boaz of Eden, N.C.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A funeral was held Saturday at First United Methodist Church with burial in the Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Ramon Torres, Esther L. Taylor, Lucile Bohon and Betty Key Ridge officiated. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ------------------------------- Fred Wright Beamer, 80, of Galax, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital. He was born April 6, 1921, in Carroll County to Troy Beamer and Fannie Jones Beamer. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Todd Beamer of Galax; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and David Williams of Galax; a son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Dorene Manning of Galax; a sister, Ola Higgins of Wytheville; six sisters-in-law, Mary Beamer of Oregon, Bertha Beamer of Woodlawn, Evelyn Beamer and Mattie Jo Beamer, both of Galax, and Lillian Beamer of Asheboro, N.C.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Saturday at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with burial in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Kilbourne officiated. --------------------------------------- Donald Wade Bourne, 60, of Willis, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Ronda, N.C. He was born Dec. 2, 1940, in Pulaski County to Hobert Bourne and Bessie Reeves Bourne. Survivors include two sisters, Esther Bourne Bell of Ronda, N.C., and Iris Bourne Osborne of State Road, N.C.; three brothers, Hobert Junior Bourne and Emmett William Bourne, both of Gordonsville, and Jimmy Bourne of Christiansburg; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Saturday at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with burial in the St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. Olan Barker officiated.
