Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Alva and Joanna McGrady of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Rebecca M. Floyd of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, John P. and Nova M. Jackson of Laurel Fork; and three grandchildren. A funeral was held Thursday at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home with burial in the Monta Vista Memory Gardens. The Rev. Duane Steele officiated CARRIE SHOCKLEY WHITTINGTON Carrie Shockley Whittington, 88, of Woodlawn, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robin and Shirley Whittington of Woodlawn; and grandson and spouse, James R. and Amanda M. Whittington of Woodlawn; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held today, Friday, at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn United Methodist Church with burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The Revs. Joe M. Taylor and James Fain will officiate. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
