COX Ila Ruth Edwards Cox, 86, of Danville, died Sept. 18, 2001, at her residence. She is survived by sons, Bennie T. Cox of Yanceyville and John J. Cox of Richmond; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. A grave side service was held Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. in Oakland United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Morris officiated. THELMA I. DALTON Thelma I. Dalton, 83, of Eaton, OH, died Sept. 19, 2001, in Kettering Hospital in Kettering, OH. She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Carole E. and Dennis N. Boomershine of West Alexandria, OH and Marlene M. Frantz of Eaton, OH; sisters, Virginia Wadkins of Indianapolis, IN, Helen Scott of Hudson, FL; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. DALTON Waymon Ray Dalton, 81, of Dinwiddie, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in Battlefield Park Convalescent Center. He was born in Carroll County, VA and was preceded in death by his parents, William Flurnoy and Essie Lee Nester Dalton and a brother, Clyde Dalton. He was a retired employee of Titmus Optical Company with 36 years of service. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Dorothy Williamson Dalton; daughter, Sheryl Dalton Rhodes and her husband, Melvin, two granddaughters, Sherra Rhodes Webb and her husband Andrew and Alysha Rene Rhodes; great-granddaughter, Caroline Ann "Carley" Webb all of Dinwiddie; brother, Glen Dalton and his wife, Mary of Bassett, VA; two sisters, Ethel Goad of Dugspur, VA and Lurann Nester of Hillsville, VA; and extended family members, Sandra and Frank Rhodes and Bryan and Kellie Rhodes all of Dinwiddie and several nieces and nephews. Grave side services were held Friday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. in the Williamson Family Cemetery, Dinwiddie. The family received friends at the Pet sburg Chapel of J.T. DOMINQUEZ Jennie Vea Gambill Dominquez, 51, of Galax, died Sept. 18, 2001, in North Carolina Baptist Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Dominquez; sons, Joe Jackson Gambill and Sylvester Monroe Jackson both of Galax; sisters, Evangelist Mabel Bryson and Patricia Lineberry both of Galax, Carolyn Stout of Winston-Salem, NC; brother, David Gambill of Galax; ninegrandchildren, three God-children. CHARLOTTE NEWMAN Charlotte "Kate" Newman, 83, of Collinsville, died Sept. 18, 2001, in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke. She is survived by a daughter, Helen Phillips of Collinsville; a son, Frank L. Newman of Henry; a half sister, June Smith of Christiansburg; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. SMITH Roy Lee Smith, 49, of Galax, died Sept. 24, 2001, in Twin County Regional Hospital.
