    2. Carroll News Obits--Friday, October 5, 2001 ERNEST G. DALTON Ernest Guy Dalton, 84, of Dugspur, died Sept. 24, 2001, in Beverly Health Care Blue Ridge. He is survived by a son, Ernest Jr. Dalton; one sister, Ella Horton of Hillsville. A grave side service was held Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. in the Branscome Cemetery, Dugspur. Rev. Norman Goad officiated. Military Rites were conducted by Hillsville VFW Post 1115. CLARA V. DILLARD Clara Virginia Dillard, 80, of Woodlawn, died Sept. 27, 2001, in Pulaski Community Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Daulton J. Dillard; two sons, Bobby Lee Richardson of Palm Harbor, FL and Wennis E. Surratt of Newbern, NC; two brothers, Raymond Richardson of Hillsville, Ray Richardson of Palm Harbor, FL; six sisters, Berta Jennings, Coleen White, Oneida Bell Chrisley and Freida White all of Hillsville, Maxine Allison of Hampton, Gertrude Akers of Pulaski; 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild. Funeral was Sept. 30 at 1:30 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel conducted by the Rev. Harold Loucks and the Rev. Lud Zerbe. Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery. CLARENCE L. JUSTICE Clarence L. Justice, 97, of Monchs Corner, SC, died Sept. 27, 2001, in the Life Care Center of Charleston, SC. He is survived by a sister, Lessie Mannon of Glasgow, WV; four half brothers, Lowry Justice of Monchs Corner, SC, Rush Justice and Riley Justice both of War, WV, Charles Justice of Asco, WV; four half sisters, Joyce Smith of Whitman, WV, Ruth Kirby and Geneva Gillespie both of Bluefield, and Dorothy Markus of Indianapolis, IN. Funeral was Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel. Burial was in the Independence Cemetery. JOYCE E. MARSHALL Joyce Edmonds Marshall, 75, of Hillsville, died Sept. 24, 2001, at Heritage Hall-Laurel Meadows, Laurel Fork. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan Gale and Jane Marshall of Chester, John Elmond and Karen Marshall of Hillsville; brother, Cleo Edmonds of Hillsville; half brother, Delton Kemp of Naples, FL; sisters, Christine Dye of Austin, TX, Glois Massey of Houston, TX and Joan Ellis of Alameda, CA; three grandchildren. Funeral was Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel conducted by Dr. O. Neil McCarter. Burial was in the Worrell Cemetery. NADENE S. PHILLIPS Nadene Sheppard Phillips, 74, of Roanoke, died Sept. 27, 2001, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Holly O. Phillips; two daughters and sons-in-law, Justine P. and Glenn Ramsey, Sr., of Roanoke, Jackaline P. Bianco of Ft. Chiswell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leo E. and Linda W. Phillips of Hillsville, Joe O. and Janey M. Phillips of Ft. Chiswell; 11 grandchildren, two step grandchidlren, six great-grandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren. Funeral was Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. at the Centennial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) McCoy, VA. Burial was in the Centennial Christian Church Cemetery. PORTER Clyde Elizabeth Porter, 90, of Galax, died Sept. 25, 2001, in Twin County Regional Hospital. She is survived by a daughter, Lorene E. Hall; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Judy Porter; one granddaughter. Funeral was Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Fred E. Jennings, the Rev. Vinton Quesenberry and the Rev. Joe Shockley. Burial was in Monta Vista Cemetery. OLETA R. SMITH Oleta Rorrer Smith, 86, of Woodlawn, died Sept. 25, 2001 in Twin County Regional Hospital. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Edwards of Woodlawn; brother, Lawrence Rorrer of Hillsville; sister, Arsie Goad of Hillsville. Funeral was Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. in Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Elder Carbon Vass and Elder Joe H. McGrady officiating. Burial was in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery.
