Galax Gazette Obits--October 08, 2001 Mack Joseph Burcham, 78 Mack Joseph Burcham, 78, of Mount Holly, N.C., died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Brian Center, Gastonia. He was born in Carroll County to Wesley and Maude Edwards Burcham. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Beach Burcham; children and spouses, Ronald and Linda Burcham, of Summerville, S.C., Diane and Larry Abernethy of Mount Holley, Sandra and Ed Calvert of Belmont N.C., Pamela and Terry McVay of Whiteville, N.C., and Randell and Marie Burcham of Mount Holley; two brothers and spouses, Bobby and Virginia Burcham of Galax and Carnie and Margaret Burcham of Richmond; three sisters and spouses, Pearl Bartlett of Galax, Florence and George Lawson of Galax and Kathleen and Harvey Riddle of Greensboro, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral was held Saturday at Second Baptist Church with burial in the Evergeen Cemetery. The Revs. Bruce Bradley, J.C. Calvert and Jerry Stanfield officiated. He was born in Grayson County to George and Florence Leonard McKenzie. Survivors include his wife, Florence Mills McKenzie; two brothers, John McKenzie and Charles McKenzie; a sister, Mamie; four stepchildren; three granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Sept. 26 in Florida with Chaplain Jess McCrosky of Hospice officiating.
