Galax Gazette Obits--October 15, 2001 MARY HALSEY FARMER Mary Halsey Farmer, 91, of Sugar Grove, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at Marion Francis Manor Nursing Home, Marion. She was the widow of Fred James Farmer. She was born Sept. 10, 1910, in Troutdale to Charles Calvin and Betty Elizabeth Halsey Halsey. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Lucille Farmer of Sugar Grove; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and George Asbury of Bear, Del., Juanita and Herbert Belcher of Middleburg, Fla., and Nancy and Alvin Davis of Millsboro, Del.; one sister, Beatrice Hall of Princeton, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. A funeral was held Saturday at Sugar Grove Baptist Church, Sugar Grove, with burial in the Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield. The Revs. Kenny Price and Donald Tate officiated. She was born April 11, 1985, to Teresa and Frank Worrell. Survivors include her parents, Teresa and Frank Worrell; a sister and brother-in-law, Beth Worrell and Khy Carico of Galax; maternal grandparents, Almeda and John Bryant of Galax; a niece; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral was held Sunday at First Christian Church with burial in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The Revs. Carl Bean and K.T. Carico officiated.Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
