I clicked around on vaco-c and got a list of virginia confederate units by county for the counties that start with the letter "c". As for finding books about different units, I would start with the county historical/genealogical society of the county and state and ask them. You can also look at http://www.cwc.lsu.edu/civlink.htm for alot of things Civil War.
