Galax Gazette 22 Aug 2001 ======== Dorothy Sizemore, 59 Dorothy Sizemore, 59, of Galax, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at her home. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Reanna and Jeff Berry and Sherita Sizemore, all of Galax; her mother, Lena Hodge of Hillsville; four brothers, John Walker Hodge Jr., of Draper, Jerry "Billy" Hodge and Thomas Richard Hodge, both of Barren Springs, and Kenneth Lee Hodge of Pulaski; eight sisters, Ethel "Jean Allison of Allisonia, Helen Sue Edwards and Della Ann Duncan, both of Barren Springs, Flora "Ada" Hill, Mary "Nancy" Hill, Debra Corso, Vanessa Annette Utt and Zana Gail Jarrells, all of Hillsville; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held today, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home with burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The Revs. John Duncan and Raymond White will officiate. ====== Lewis Milton Montgomery, 54 Lewis Milton Montgomery, 54, of Hillsville, died Saturday evening at his home. He was the son of the late Paul and LaVaughnia Montgomery. Survivors include three sisters and brothers-in-law, Maudine and Bruce Dunset of Orange Park, Fla., Sue and Gilmer McMillan of Moneta and Mary and Robert Brown of Hillsville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Edna Montgomery of Hillsville and Don and Patsy Montgomery of Galax; an aunt, Gertrude M. Dalton of Waynesboro; 15 nieces and nephews; 25 great-nieces and –nephews; and three great-great-nieces and –nephews. A funeral was held Tuesday at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home with burial in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Neil Eidson officiated. ========== Thomas Therman Hawks, 61 Thomas Therman Hawks, 61, of Conway, S.C., formerly of Carroll County, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, in Conway, S.C. Survivors include his wife, Maria Hawks of the home; a son, Stephen Talley of Conway, S.C.; four brothers, Sherman Hawks and Ed hawks, both of Laurel Fork, Wayne Hawks of Hillsville and Herman Hawks of Charlottesville; and one grandson. A funeral was held Monday at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home with burial in the Love Cemetery. The Rev. Clarence Marshall officiated. ====== Clarence Blevins, 70 Clarence Blevins, 70, of Rugby, the Shippey’s Branch Community, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Blevins. He was born July 9, 1931, in Whitetop to Blaine T. and Nannie Combs Blevins. Survivors include his mother, Nannie Blevins of Rugby; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Garland and Imogene Blevins of Whitetop, Roby and Gency Blevins of Rugby, James Ray Blevins of the home and Dayton and Evelyn Blevins of Wilkesboro, N.C.; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mabel Absher and Faye and Clifford Roop, all of Whitetop, Joann and Harley Lewis of Rugby and Inez Carter of Elkin, N.C.; a special niece, Annie Adkins of Wilkesboro, N.C.; and several other nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Helton Valley Baptist Church, Whitetop, with burial in the Walls Cemetery. The Rev. Rex Hall will officiate.
