She was born Nov. 20, 1914, in Grundy to Tom McGlothlin and Laura VanDyke McGlothlin. Survivors include her husband, William F. Anders Sr.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Norman "Buz" and Bonnie Wilson of Williamsburg and William F. Anders Jr., of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois Ann and Bob Bagby of St. Augustine, Fla., and Linda Sue and Jesse DeAnda of Houston, Texas; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Cloe Collins of El Paso, Texas, Eve and Bud MacCauley of Louisa, and Dorothy and Bob MacCardell of Conowingo, Md.; two brothers, Thomas McGlothlin of Detroit, Mich., and Otis McGlothlin of Conowingo, Md.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Tuesday at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with burial in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The Revs. Bob Adams and Fred Jennings officiated. Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ============= Maretha Shupe Durham, 96 Maretha Shupe Durham, 96, of Martinsville, formerly of Fries, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at Blue Ridge Rehabilitation in Martinsville. She was born Feb. 21, 1905, in Grayson County to John C. and Amanda Hill Shupe. Survivors include a daughter, Pat D. Monroe of Martinsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Judy Durham of Fries; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held today, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bill Linkous will officiate. He was born Feb. 18, 1933, in Galax to Olen Wesley and Nannie Ellen Ball Hale. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Jean Hash of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Jim Dapolite of Charlotte, N.C., and Sharon and Mark Durham of Galax; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shari Hale of Hickory, N.C.; a stepdaughter and her husband, Cynthia and Bernd Jablonski; three stepsons and their wives, Timothy and Patricia Doyle, Robin and Dina Doyle and Anthony and Lori Doyle; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Houk of Galax; and a brother, Larry Hale of Connelly Springs, N.C. A funeral was held Tuesday at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with burial in the Monta Vista Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The Rev. Survivors include his father, Carroll Lineberry of Galax; his mother, Brenda Lineberry Sipe of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a brother, Derek Justin Sipe of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; his maternal grandmother, Imogene Caviness of Austinville; his paternal grandmother, Wilma Thomas of Galax; two stepbrothers, Daniel Lineberry and Christopher Lineberry, both of Galax; and a stepsister, Nykee Dickerson of Galax. Newman of Galax; two sisters, Redith Quesenberry and Leah Honeycutt, all of Galax; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Virginia Newman of Salem; two sisters-in-law, Emma Harrison and Beulah Newman; a brother-in-law, Heath Higgins; and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Carroll County to Martin Bobbitt and Cora Manuel Bobbitt. Survivors include three sisters, Mae Lineberry of Galax and Jessie Bartley and Frances Gentry, both of Lowgap, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held Tuesday at McKenzie Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Parson officiating. He was born April 3, 1919, in Independence, the Grubbs Chapel Community, to Lester and Dora Anderson Testerman. Survivors include his wife, Ollie Testerman of Galax; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Herbert Farmer of Rugby; a sister, Katherine Mink of Galax; a brother, Ray Testerman of Galax; three grandchildren; one stepgrandson; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Monday at Grubbs Chapel Baptist Church with burial in the Grubbs Chapel Cemetery. The Revs. Alan Graham and Bill Guy officiated. She was the widow of Gilbert Henry Wienberry. She was born May 13, 1914, in Perquimans County, N.C., to Lee Wood Chesson and Martha Hyman Chesson. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rose Marie Ridge of High Point, N.C., Sharon W. and Curtiss Kegley of Galax and Beth and Jim Dix of Danville; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob L. and Day Wienberry of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; a sister, Ruth O’Sullivan of High Point, N.C.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held Sunday at Felts Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Tom Conley officiating.
