    2. GALAX GAZETTE ============= Bryan Franklin Bowers, 40 Bryan Franklin Bowers, 40, of Woodlawn, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He was born April 8, 1961, in Galax to James and Fay Isom Bowers. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Bowers; two daughters, Megan Bowers and Kayla Bowers, all of Woodlawn; his mother, Faye Bowers Sizemore of Woodlawn; his father, Did Bowers of Galax; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Don Melton of Galax; a half-brother, Brad Bowers of Galax; a niece; and nephew; and several aunts, uncles and friends. A funeral was held Sunday at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with burial in the Monta Vista Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Francis and Robert Kilgore of Hampton; a son and daughter-in-law, Moir and Katie Branscome of Hillsville; a sister, Sylvia McIvor of Petersburg; two granddaughters; three grandsons; five great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; one stepgranddaughter; one stepgreat-granddaughter; one step great-grandson. A funeral was held Sunday at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home with burial in the Independence Cemetery. The Rev. Nickie Neese officiated ========= Edith Rippey Burcham, 80, of Woodlawn, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, N.C. She was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Carroll County to Troy Rippey and Ada Lowe Rippey. Survivors include her husband, Basil Burcham of Woodlawn; two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen B. and Homer Boyd of Meadows of Dan and Rita and Mike Bunn of Woodlawn; five sisters, Pauline Hawks, Ethel Hanks and Lura McCraw, all of Galax, Vera Combs of Fancy Gap and Virginia Combs of High Point, N.C.; two brothers, Lloyd Rippey and Charlie Rippey, both of Galax; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Monday at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with burial in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The Revs. Don Fox and Avis Nester officiated. ======== Ranva Otis Davis, 84 Ranva Otis Davis, 84, of Hillsville, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Eldercare of Hillsville. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Art and Debbie Davis of Max Meadows and Larry and Debbie Davis of Hillsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and David Coe of Sylvatus; a brother, Emmitt Davis of Salem; three sisters, Jane Bower of Prince Frederick, Md., Virgie Nester of Laurel Fork and Edna Jarrell of Galax; and six grandchildren. A funeral will be held today, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church with burial in the Shiloh Cemetery. The Rev. James Fain will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ======== Henry F. Galyean, 66 Henry F. Galyean, 66, of Hillsville, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax. Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Galyean of the home; a brother, James Galyean of Lowgap, N.C.; and three sisters, Pauline Robertson of Mount Airy, N.C., Nonnie Parker of Ararat and Treva Beasley of King, N.C. A funeral will be held today, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home with burial in the Semones Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Jones will officiate. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Hillsville Masonic Lodge 193. ======== Lovill Stowe Money, 69 Lovill Stowe Money, 69, of Fancy Gap, formerly of Mount Airy, N.C., died Aug. 4, 2001, at his home. He was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Mount Airy, N.C., to the late Henry Everett Sr., and Florence Stowe Money. He was a graduate of Mount Airy High School in the class of 1949. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 193 for 48 years. He was a member of Skyview Baptist Church, Fancy Gap, and a member of the Scottish Rite and Kazim Temple. He was owner of Blankenship – Holder Insurance Agency Inc., for more than 30 years. He is survived by two brothers, Henry E. Money Jr., of Panama City, Fla., and retired Lt. Col. Virgil M. and wife Jeanne Money of Camarillo, Calif.; two nieces; one nephew; and special friend, Ina Delp of Galax. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carroll Odell Money. A funeral was held Tuesday at Skyview Baptist Church with the Revs. Wendell Horton, Joe Shockley, Fred Jennings, Elmon Thompson and Jimmy Marion officiating. Masonic rites were held at Good Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Fancy Gap. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
