She is survived by her husband, Coy Robert Branscome; sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Sylvia Branscome of Yorktown, Barry and Ann Branscome of Galax; two grandchildren; sisters, Betty Goodson, Rubye Cockerham both of Galax, Hilda Windle of Naples, FL. A grave side service was held Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. in Oakland Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Gregory and Elder Edward Bowman officiated. THOMAS W. BROCK, SR. Thomas William "Bill" Brock, Sr., 57, of Mount Airy, NC, died Aug. 15, 2001, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Norman Brock; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas William Brock, Jr. of Cana, Todd Norman and Tanya Brock of Dobson, NC, Joseph Dean and Lisa Brock of Mount Airy, NC; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Brock of Mount Airy, NC; sister, Mary Higgs of Mount Airy, NC. Funeral was Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. at Howell Funeral Chapel of Mount Airy conducted by the Rev. Billy Moore. Interment was in Oakdale Cemetery. MARETHA S. DURHAM Maretha Shupe Durham, 96, of Martinsville, formerly of Fries, died Aug. 11, 2001, in Blue Ridge Rehab in Martinsville. She is survived by a daughter, Pat D. Monroe of Martinsville; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Judy Durham of Fries; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. in Providence United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Bill Linkous. Burial was in the church cemetery. VINA GOAD Vina Goad, 95, of Hillsville, died Aug. 16, 2001, in Twin County Regional Hospital. She is survived by two brothers, Shirley Dalton and Troy Dalton both of Hillsville. Funeral was Aug. 18 at 1 p.m. in the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, Hillsville, with burial in the Branscome Cemetery. ANNIE G. GUYNN Mrs. Annie Guynn Guynn, 94, of 1465 Turner Spur Rd., Fancy Gap, VA, widow of Mr. Lee Guynn, passed away at her home Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001. Mrs. Guynn was born June 15, 1907, in Carroll County, to the late Ellis and Lora McMillian Guynn. She was a homemaker and a member of the Closer Home Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Emma Mae and Earl Jordon of Fancy Gap; two sons and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Martha Guynn of Fancy Gap and Lester Guynn also of Fancy Gap; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Hassie and John Guynn of Mt. Airy, NC; and a brother, erlie Guynn of Kernersville, NC. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Guynn was preceded in death by two daughters, Pearl Guynn and Ethel Guynn, by two sons, Ray Guynn and Emmet Guynn and by two brothers, Barnett Guynn and Albert Guynn. Funeral was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2001 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Harris Easter. Burial was n the Elks Spur Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday night from 7-9 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home. JUNE F. HART June Frances Hart, 76, of Galax, died Aug. 16, 2001, in North Carolina Baptist Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Michael Thomas Hart; sons, Peter Charles Hart of Fairport, NY and Dr. Robert Hart of Mission Viejo, CA; brother, Peter Engal of Boston, MA; six grandchildren. HAWKS Thomas Therman Hawks, 61, of Conway, SC, formerly of Carroll County, died Aug. 16, 2001, in Conway,SC. He is survived by his wife, Maria Hawks; son, Stephen Talley of Conway, SC; four brothers, Sherman Hawks and Ed Hawks both of Laurel Fork, Wayne Hawks of Hillsville, Herman Hawks of Charlottesville; one grandson. KYLE Mable Lee Kyle, 56, of Galax, died Aug. 13, 2001, in Twin County Regional Hospital. She is survived by her mother, Ozella E. He was the son of the late Paul and LaVaughnia Montgomery. Dalton of Waynesboro, VA; 15 nieces and nephews, 25 great-nieces and nephews, three great-great-nieces and nephews.
