Galax Gazette 24 Aug 2001 ===== Clarence Dean Blevins, 64 Clarence Dean Blevins, 64, of Huntsville, Texas, formerly of Whitetop, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at his home. He was born Dec. 28, 1937, in Whitetop to Clarence and Lura Farmer Blevins. Survivors include his mother, Lura Blevins of Whitetop; five sons, Eddie Blevins, Freddie Blevins and Estel Blevins, all of Nemours, Mike Harmon of Chilhowie and Jamie Blevins of Hunstville, Texas; two daughters, Donna Sue Booth and Sherry Keller, both of Nemours; three brothers, Wayne Blevins of Abingdon, Chester Blevins of Manassas, and Melvin Blevins of Whitetop; and one sister, Mary Trivett of Volney. A memorial service will be held today, Friday, at 2 p.m. in Upper Helton Baptist Church, Whitetop, with the Revs. Rex Hall and Larry Peak officiating. This courtesy announcement is provided by Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. ========== Linda Nester Flippin, 55 Linda Nester Flippin, 55, of Fancy Gap, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orlie Clayton and Belva Mae Vass Nester; and a sister, Mary Coulson. Survivors include her husband, Bernard Flippin of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Tim Williams of Independence; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Angie Flippin Independence; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Joyce Nester of Pulaski; three grandchildren, Cassidy Jo Williams, Lydia Marie Flippin and Isaac Scott Flippin; and a special friend, Frances Goad. A funeral was held Thursday at Skyview Baptist Church with burial in the Skyview Cemetery. The Revs. Wendell Horton and Elmon Thompson officiated.
