    2. Friday, September 28, 2001 Galax Gazette Ernest Guy Dalton, 84, of Dugspur, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at Beverly Health Care Blue Ridge. Survivors include a son, Ernest Junior Dalton; a sister, Ella Horton of Hillsville; two sisters-in-law, Vera Dalton of Dublin and Pauline Dalton of Dugspur; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held Wednesday at Branscome Cemetery, Dugspur, with the Rev. Norman Goad officiating. Military rites were conducted at graveside by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ========== Joyce Edmonds Marshall, 75, of Hillsville, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at Heritage Hall – Laurel Meadows, Laurel Fork. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan Gale and Jane Marshall of Chester and John Elmond and Karen Marshall of Hillsville; a brother, Cleo Edmonds of Hillsville; a half-brother, Delton Kemp of Naples, Fla.; three sisters, Christine Dye of Austin, Texas, Glois Massey of Houston, Texas, and Joan Ellis of Alameda, Calif.; and three grandchildren. A funeral was held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home with burial in the Worrell Cemetery. Dr. O. Neil McCarter officiated. ========= Clyde Elizabeth Porter, 90, of Galax, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was born Feb. 3, 1911, in Grayson County to John A. and Phibbee Jane Crigger Vaughan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Arthur Porter. Survivors include a daughter, Lorene E. Hall; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Judy Porter; a granddaughter, Brandy Hodge, all of Fries; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held today, Friday, at 2 p.m. at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with burial in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The Revs. Fred E. Jennings, Vinton Quesenberry and Joe Shockley will officiate. ======= Oleta Rorrer Smith, 86, of Woodlawn, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Edwards of Woodlawn; a brother, Lawrence Rorrer of Hillsville; a sister, Arsie Goad of Hillsville; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and –nephews. A funeral was held Thursday at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home with burial in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery. Elders Carbon Vass and Joe H. McGrady officiated.
