The story is somewhat documented in the book, "The Man Who Moved A Mountain." However, if the story is like the rest of the book, it is a bit suspect. Speaking as one who researched the Allen Tragedy, I would like to see someone research this event and tell the straight story. Like the Allen story, it is probably distorted over time and many retellings and interpretations. In my experience, even descendants of the parties involved only have one side of the story; that which was told to them by their families. There are still descendants living in the area and elsewhere. I would hate to see it on a website with only hand me down stories and half truths.
