Winston-Salem Journal FORTNER GALAX, Va. - Mr. Roy Lee Fortner, 73, died May 12, 2001, at Twin County Regional Hospital. He was born March 29, 1928, in Carroll County to Thomas Archie Fortner and Elizabeth Triplett Fortner. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Vaughan-Guynn Chapel by the Rev. Don Fox. Interment will be in Felts Memorial Cemetery. Surviving are a son, Archie Dean Fortner of Charlotte; a daughter, Sandra Lee Nelson of Stocksville; a sister, Betty Amburn of Roanoke, Va.; his fiancee, Marie Anderson of Galax, Va.; and grandchildren Rhonda L. Nelson and Derek T. Nelson. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
