I found the following Carroll County Obituary while transcribing others from Pulaski County and thought it might be helpful to a researcher. Source:SW Times Newspaper, Pulaski, Virginia August 2, 1920 S.W. MYERS, father of Mrs. A.J. HAILEY, died Friday morning at his home at Shortts Creek, Carroll County. Death was due to the infirmities of age, he being in his 79th year, his health having been failing for some time. The funeral service was held Saturday morning. Mr. & Mrs. HAILEY attended having returned home yesterday morning. The deceased was born, reared and spent his entire life in that section, having been engaged in the vocation of farming, thought for some time has been unable to do any work because of ill health. His wife preceded him to the grave 10 years ago. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. HAILEY of Pulaski; Mrs. G.W. PARNELL and Mrs. Frank FOWLER and one son Thomas MYERS, all residents of Shortts Creek section. There are two brother and one sister also surviving. Tami P.
