    3. Cousin Cora Sue-- I got much of this from other researchers and haven't verified all of it myself, but maybe it will give you some ideas. As always, corrections and additions are appreciated. Jonathan DALTON b 25 Dec 1835 Grayson/Carroll Co d 20 Apr 1923 Carroll Co (served in Co G, 54th VA Inf) m 20 Oct 1858 Annie/Annize McGRADY b 20 Jan 1843 d 4 Dec 1912 Carroll Co. Both are buried in the McPeak-Gallimore Cem in Carroll Co. Ch (all b Carroll Co): 1) Isaac J. DALTON b 22 Jan 1859 d 6 Mar 1859 Carroll Co; 2) Callie R. DALTON b 1862 d 1938 bur McPeak-Gallimore Cem; 3) Hezekiah DALTON b 1865; 4) Cleopatra Alice DALTON b 1867 d 1960 Carroll Co; 5) McNealy DALTON b 1871; 6) Gordon DALTON b 9 Sep 1873 d 10 Oct 1940 m Lucy Aldora HURST b 10 Feb 1875 d 5 Jul 1957, both bur McPeak-Gallimore Cem; 7) Victoria DALTON b 20 Nov 1875 d 20 Feb 1883 bur McPeak-Gallimore Cem; 8) Silas Cleveland DALTON b 31 Dec 1877 d 16 Jul 1954 m ?? Jesston JENNINGS b 17 Jun 1878 d 25 Jul 1953 both bur Quesenberry-Dalton Cem, Carroll Co. Now, just in case you want a few more generations and don't happen to have them... Get out some paper because you're going to need to chart this to understand it. Jonathan DALTON was the s/o Thomas DALTON b 1810 d aft 1853 and Mary "Polly" JENNINGS b 1817-20 d 1860. Both are buried in the William Dalton Cem, Carroll Co. We'll get back to Polly later. Thomas DALTON was the s/o Timothy DALTON b ca 1785 d 15 Dec 1872 Carroll Co and Elizabeth "Betsy" PHILLIPS b ca 1785 Pittsylvania Co d 1850 Carroll Co. Both are buried in the William Dalton Cem. We'll get back to Betsy later. Timothy DALTON was the s/o William DALTON b ca 1748 Bedford/Pittsylvania Co d 14 Jan 1811 and Elizabeth STURMAN b ca 1751 d ca 1820. Both are buried in the William Dalton Cem. William DALTON was the s/o Timothy DALTON b ca 1715 Lunenburg Co, VA d bef 24 Apr 1775 Bedford Co, VA and Elizabeth TALBOT/PHILLIPS. Timothy DALTON was the s/o Timothy DALTON b ca 1690 England d 1767 Albemarle Co, VA and Elizabeth ____. (Timothy DALTON and Elizabeth ____ were also my ancestors through their daughter Elizabeth b ca 1715 m James BOBBITT.) Getting back to Polly JENNINGS, she was the d/o Jonathan JENNINGS b ca 1780 and Nancy HENSON, d/o Benjamin HENSON. Jonathan JENNINGS was the s/o William JENNINGS b 16 Dec 1750 Campbell Co, VA d 15 Oct 1843 Carroll Co and Elizabeth OGLE b 5 Nar 1761. We'll try to get back to Elizabeth later. (William JENNINGS and Elizabeth OGLE were also my ancestors through their son Thomas b 24 Nov 1778 m Sarah CLIFTON.) William JENNINGS was the s/o Jonathan JENNINGS b ca 1730 d 1784 Mercer Co, KY and Diannah BOBBITT b ca 1730 d 1795. Various researchers differ as to whether "our" Jonathan JENNINGS was the same as the Jonathan JENNINGS who was a key figure in the early settlements in Tennessee. If you agree with the one school of thought then the family can be traced back into England and the JENNINGS fellow who founded the iron/steel industry in Birmingham. If you agree with the other school then we don't have a clue as to Jonathan's parentage. Diannah BOBBITT was the d/o James BOBBITT b 1707 d 1761 Halifax Co, VA and Elizabeth DALTON d aft 1767. Elizabeth DALTON was the d/o Timothy DALTON and Elizabeth ____ as mentioned above, so they're your ancestors for a second time. James BOBBITT b 1707 was the s/o William BOBBITT, Jr b 1675 Carles City Co, VA d 1738 and Mary GREEN. William BOBBITT was the s/o William BOBBITT b ca 1649 Glamorganshire, Wales d bef 12 May 1703 Charles City Co, VA and Joanna/Anna STURDIVANT b Wales d VA. Getting back to Betsy PHILLIPS b 1783, Elizabeth "Betsy" PHILLIPS was the d/o Tobias PHILLIPS b 25 Jan 1749/15 Jan 1750 Richmond, VA d 2 Jul 1808/1809 Grayson Co and Margaret "Peggy" JENNINGS b ca 1750 d ca 1830. Peggy JENNINGS is believed to have been the d/o Jonathan JENNINGS and Diannah BOBBITT (above, so you're your own and my cousin again). Tobias PHILLIPS was the s/o George PHILLIPS and Hannah GOAD. Almost forgot Elizabeth OGLE b 5 Mar 1761 New Castle, DE. She was the d/o Thomas OGLE b 25 Jul 1721 New Castle, DE d 1803 Grayson Co and Elizabeth ROBESON b 1721 d aft Mar 1803. Thomas OGLE was the s/o John OGLE b ca 1695 New Castle d ca 1741 Perry Co, PA and Elizabeth ??ROBINSON b ca 1700 d ca 1743. John OGLE was the s/o Thomas OGLE b 1666-9 New Castle and Mary CRAWFORD b ca 1671. Thomas OGLE was the s/o John OGLE b 30 Sep 1644 Berwick Upon Tweed, Northumberland, England d 1684 New Castle, DE and Elizabeth [??WOLLASTON]. John OGLE was the s/o Capt John OGLE/OGELL and Eleanor PRINGLE. From there the OGLE family can be traced back for another several hundred years, but once you get into this heavy a collection of the mists of time I become less and less sure about it. If you're interested find the book "Ogle and Bothal". So...we share the DALTON, BOBBITT, OGLE, and JENNINGS families for starters. Any bets that we don't have some other common ancestors lurking somewhere??? --Ginger Cora Sue Linton wrote: > > Can anyone add to this family?
