I've changed my "genealogical index" pages to reflect the lineages described in this thread ... Changing THIS Sarah to maiden name Jennings, with second marriage to T.M. HULL ... and the "other" Sarah to maiden name Branscome. My clue should have been J.P. Alderman's statement in his annotated 1850 census that it was William, son of William, that married Sarah Branscome, while in 1860, the grandfather of Millard is Timothy, living with William & Sarah (Jennings) Regards, Freddie S. > > The Dalton index on the Carroll County web site: > > http://www.rootsweb.com/~vacarrol/names/c_dalton.htm > > labels the Sarah/Sally who was the mother of Millard Dalton, Sanders > Dalton, et. al. as Sarah Branscome. I am constantly amazed at the thoroughness of your cross-indexed census pages. I don't know any other county that has done anything nearly so complete. While reviewing these listings, I also wondered at the "Jennings" listed for the surname of T. M. Hull's stepchildren: http://www.rootsweb.com/~vacarrol/census/carr_735.htm#h123 Shouldn't it be "Dalton"? Jennings was only their mother's maiden name. Do you have the actual censuses at hand to check whether it really says Jennings? By the way, what are your own surnames in Carroll and Floyd counties? -- Teri
