How I missed not looking into the "Settlements" by John Perry Alderman to see if there was anything in it that might have helped me, I don't know----? But I still might not have connected that Jane's husband was Thomas. If this turns out to be the correct Hugh Hanks, that married Sarah Jane Puckett, daughter of Rev. Daniel Puckett, Quaker, in Kansas in 1875 - 1890's, my husband is also my cousin !!!!!!!! What fun. I am sure there is a connection because of the old tale's of the men visiting with Abe Lincoln, a cousin, around the potbelly stove, in an Illinois town store.
