I have been told that a Smythers Cemetery was moved when State Highway 94 between Ft. Chiswell and Fries was built. And that the cemetery was moved to Mt. Hope Methodist Cemetery (very close by) many years ago. The workmen who moved the cemetery, had related that only bones & fragments were remaining. Also that they weren't sure if any headstones were erected or moved to mark the new burial site. Can anyone elaborate on or confirm this? Thank you.
