Did his wife Mary Ann (Polly) Bolt die after Harvey was born? She is not on the census. Does anyone know why? That would mean she is not the mother of Ennis Lee Spence? So help me here? Also he found Ennis Spence's wife, Dora California Dalton with her family in 1880. She was only a year old in the census. What do we know about Harvey and brother Thomas? Also, Mary Ann, do we have any info on the families of Lucy and Mary, the sisters of Dora C.? I want to thank all of you who sent me their Marshall line (and there were many). I was hoping to find a connection to the My Marshalls of Brock's Gap, Augusta County or Rockingham County, VA in 1760 circa. Who scattered mostly to Kentucky. Thanks again! Pam
Apparently Eli married Mary Ann twice; 16JUL1879 and 23DEC1881. I would assume there to be a divorce between the two dates. Mary Ann was living with her sister, Sarah, at the time of the 1880 Census. She didn't die until 1918. "Sheila Anderson-Lewis" To: VACARROL-L@rootsweb.com <magickrn@bells cc: (bcc: Ronald W. James Sutphin (b. abt 1831) son of Owen Sutphin and Sarah Thompson, was married to Amelia Sutphin 14JUN1855. She was the daughter of William Sutphin and Nancy Mabry. The death records say she died of unknown causes 11OCT1868. The 1880 census shows James and his second wife, Juritta Reynolds, whom he married 20DEC1877. Also listed are children; James G. 16 Lenora 14 Green P. 9 Amanda 7 Harvey 1 I assume the first two belong to James and his first wife and the last one to James and his second wife. Who do the other two belong to? Possibly Juritta before her marriage or is Amelia's death date wrong? Incidentally, James' older son, Vanvert Milton, married Juritta's younger sister, Lucinda. I have always thought that interesting, somehow. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Ron
