Hi Folks, Someone kindly pointed out to me that I had the wrong death date, and I must have added it in my sleep, since I know that Daniel Bedsaul's second marriage took place 8 years after the death that I had recorded for him! :( Daniel married Molly/Polly? Martin on April 16, 1818, in Grainger County, TN. He must have been killed in the Indians shortly after his marriage to Molly. The 1810 information was apparently from the 1810 census which verified that Daniel was living in Grainger County at that time. Just wanted to thank a Bedsaul cousin for pointing out the mistake, and let you guys know about it. Thanks. Jean Cuevas
Good Evening! I am just stabbing in the dark, but my 3rd gr grandfather, John Lowry BEDSAUL, b. 1802, Grayson County, VA, one of the four children of Daniel BEDSAUL and Catherine EDWARDS, disappeared from the area, by 1809. I have found that Daniel BEDSAUL, following the death of his first wife, and a run-in with the law, moved to Grainger County, TN, and married a first cousin of his, Polly/Molly MARTIN, daughter of Amey BEDSAUL and George MARTIN. I presume that he took John with him. Daniel's two daughters stayed in the area and Mary was raised by her maternal grandparents, and Sarah was raised by a GREENE family. (Anyone with information on who this GREENE family was? I would be very grateful to know). Daniel was killed at Panther Springs in Hamblin County, TN, in an Indian raid in 1810, so John may have lived with his step-mother or his gr aunt and uncle Martin. But, I found John in Washington County, TN, by 1823, married to a Polly JONES. I have nothing more regarding that marriage, other than a suspicion that Polly JONES must have died in childbirth, because my records show that John Lowry's first child was born in 1826, and he did not marry his second wife (my 3rd gr grandmother, Mary C. BACON) until Oct 27, 1827. Knowing how often people tended to marry acquaintances, I am wondering whether any of you with JONES family, might have had some of your family also go to Washington County, TN? If so, perhaps that will give me some clues on Polly's line. Thanks. Jean Mayfield Cuevas

Her birthday was 12-15-1902. I know there was a lot of children and I would really like some help. If you have any information I would really appreciate it. I would be willing to share what I have. THANKS LOTS OF LOVE, JULIA
A few years ago I bought a copy of a hand-drawn map of Patrick County (at the PCVA Historical Society), that has been very helpful while researching families there. It shows the roads, streams, towns etc., but also shows old schoolhouses, churches, stores and water-powered mills. The roads are labeled by both name and route numbers and the mountains are also labeled. It is not an old map, it was copyrighted in 1976 and includes modern day changes. Are there any Carroll County maps available that are similar to the Patrick County map? Thanks, darlene
