Carroll was not formed until 1842 and the birth registers did not start until 1853-54 in most counties. They were probably born in Grayson or Patrick. Your best bet is to look in the 1850 Census to see if he is listed with his parents. A George Lawson is listed as a tax payer, March 13, 1815. Listed with 1 male over 16, 1 horse, and 1 head of cattle. Reuben Lawson listed on muster rolls of Capt. William Bobbitt's Company, Randolph listed in Capt. Jonathan Isham's company, Reuben is listed there also. I did not find any Lawsons in 1850 Carroll Co. Census, in 1850 Grayson Census, Edmund, two Stephens and William Lawson listed. Carroll County was not formed until 1842 so you will have to look in Grayson or Patrick Counties for someone getting married in Carroll before that time. I looked in my Patrick Co. Marriages 1791-1850 and did not find them. And did not find them in my Carroll/Grayson Marriage book either. I did find George Lawson as a surety in the marriage of Edmond Lawson and Elizabeth South in the Carroll/Grayson book: "Bond 1833-28: June 20, 1833: Edmond Lawson and Elizabeth South; George Lawson, surety. Dear Carroll County Cousins, Does anyone have the address for Mae Webb in Hillsville? My aunt Iza had recommended that I contact Mae regarding my family research. I believe Mae is a cousin through James P. Bobbitt and Emisettie Dalton and that she used to be the Post Mistress in Hillsville. Aunt Iza was going to send me Mae's address but my uncle took sick and passed away followed by my aunt taking sick and passing away so I never got the address. I have heard that Mae moved from her house to an assisted living facility but I'm not sure where's it is located (I would guess Hillsville). I would very much like to write to Mae if anyone can help me with her address. I have no idea about viruses being received. I haven't contracted any to date in 5 years on line. The only viruses I might receive would have to be in my mail as all my internet ports are closed and I appear non-existent except when someone has my address and sends me mail. I do not open ANY attachments unless I know the person and they tell me what they are attaching. I don't even open mail if I don't recognize the name. All else gets deleted right on the initial mail screen. Tom Thomas W. Horton
Freddie & Cousin Len, my daughter isn't on any genealogy lists & she got hit by about 50-60 virus filled E-mails over 5 weeks ago. Since she isn't E-mail savy, she opened EACH ATTACHMENT!!!!!! Can you imagine what it has done to her PC? It rendered it useless. Her dad has been working non stop to retrieve as many of the grand kids homeschool files as he could that were on this pc for weeks now. It's a daunting task at best, many long hours of hard work! The files he's managed to bring back up are now safely on another disk but he had to wipe the hard drive & is busy now reinstalling many of their programs back on the PC! It was a hard lesson to learn...if Lori Ann had to pay to have this done, she could have afforded a couple of new PC's by now! That's the benefits of having a 'Techie' dad!! LOL ;) Be warry of those nasty bugs! Darcy 0:) in Maryland RESEARCHING: my side: Tolliver/Walker/Edwards/Cox/Hurst/Breeden/Breeding/Nunn/Bond/Gentry/Chappell /Thompson/ Jacks/Higgins/Todd/Rector.
