Dorothy Here is a part of what is written below information on Jonathan Chapman who is the father of Geo. b. abt 1700 and lived in Spotsylvania. This is not the Geo. b. abt 1710 from Caroline Co. VA.: He came to this country from Eng. with his son Nathanial. Died before the year 1749 and was buried at "Summer Hill" on the banks of the Patomac near Four Mile Tun. The Right Honorable Thomas Fairfax deeded part of his plantation Thoroughfare" to Jonathan Chapman June 24, 1737. Thoroughfare was in Stafford Co., VA and these two plantations became seats of the two branches of the Chapman family.
